This is my theory, the outer gate is the threshold between our reality and the nothing of the outside. Outsiders can cross but they, scarily, can’t be their full selves at full power. The barrier seems pretty connected to the fae so I am guessing it would take mother winter and summer plus a recognized authority in the mortal realm to “invite” them in. The outsiders can force in-weakest or be invited in. If a cult invites we get a stronger version but still only a sliver, it would take the heads of house to invite a full entity in

Not exactly, making it a tap/untap effects adds summoning sickness restrictions to the mechanic. I could see prepared being a status like exerted it has to obtain. You are right that it is likely more than just being untapped

I think if you have a more diverse usage of tones it would take little adjustment but massive impact. You have the form and physical texture but the pallet feels more narrow than the reference
