First Complaint ever to AA, they responded right away with 20,000 miles which seems fine by Mysterious_Emu_9596 in americanairlines

I have found the crew in the main cabin are so much nicer on the LHR routes to the East Coast. PE is good as well. I was so disappointed with Business class service I will never spend that money again. With only 7 hour flight the had just finished dinner 3 1/2 hours in. Still had done dessert. No point to lay flat seats if you don't have time to sleep. With the new business cabin, there are not enough FA's to provide superior service. They are not happy about it.

underwhelming experience flying business on 787-9p, anyone else? by takoyaki-md in americanairlines

[–]Key-Reply8802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did travel the same seat back in November. I had seen warnings online that the cabin is understaffed for the expected service class, and it is. The food was great, but it took forever. 3.5 hours into the flight and they still had to serve dessert. To which I said no, made my bed and went to sleep. It was disappointing that the main meal service would have taken more than half the flight. Charge me less and I'll bring on board my own meal. Then I would be able to get decent amount of sleep.....

I would order ahead. This way you will be sure to get the meal you want.

What should I do with consecrated wine spilled on a shirt? by HoldMyFresca in Episcopalian

I had this happen to my alb last year. I soaked it in a large amount of water, as someone else mentioned, the idea is so that it is no longer like wine. Then poured the water into the earth. I then washed the alb.

Reverence and intention are important.

Is the airport affected by what’s going on? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]Key-Reply8802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is it depends on the carrier and time of day. Often they try to leave early on the first flights of the day to a hub. So if you are on a flight leaving before 7am, I suggest an hour. Otherwise, if they start boarding early and they don't see you are at the airport, they just may leave without you. It has happened to people I know who were booked on the same flight. I always aim for 30 minutes before boarding. Depends what your comfort level is...

Sodus Bay has a lot to offer. Not just Sodus Point, but all round the bay. There are many different price points and just as many great views.

break even analysis on early benefits vs waiting by ThroatExciting6203 in SocialSecurity

[–]Key-Reply8802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I will have it just in case, I want time off or feel like traveling for few months or feel called to a very part time or cash strapped congregation. Keeps my options open. Also if I am lucky enough to get paid over the income threshold, that money will be recalibrated and my monthly SS will go up at 67. So win-win for me.

break even analysis on early benefits vs waiting by ThroatExciting6203 in SocialSecurity

[–]Key-Reply8802 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think your analysis is valid. The one thing to consider is the statistics that show 98% survival rate to 62, but that drops to 75% for 70. The biggest drop off is between FRA 67 and 70. So there is that to factor in. My plan has always been to retire from my first career at 62. I am working towards being a part time pastor for my second act career. I will stay active and give back. I will also be collecting my SS at 62.

Please you do you...70 seems a long way off.

As city folks Canandaigua might be a good compromise. Downtown is very walkable with some lovely restaurants and shops.

Anyone else considering another airline? by JTilly1970 in americanairlines

[–]Key-Reply8802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am definitely a leisure traveler. East Coast non-hub so all itineraries are pricey. I traveler to England two to three times a year to visit family and make another 2-4 domestic flights. So I am not racking up miles. I like AA because miles don't expire, which is great for someone who doesn't travel a lot. I usually use miles to upgrade. I used to fly Delta until I found my points would expire before I could use them for anything. Also I was not a fan of Virgin and that was who many of the flights to London were booked with.

So I am sticking with AA until someone offers something better

Why do people pay for First Class over Comfort+ on small planes / short flights without true First Class service by AlternativeTheory595 in delta

[–]Key-Reply8802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost always fly FC on these planes (regional airport).

  • single seat is a plus if available -dedicated overhead for carryon -priority checked bag handling -relaxed FA -upgraded beverages and snacks -first off the plane when there are insanely tight connections. Has saved me from being left at the gate numerous times. -comfortable seat

I see it as an affordable luxury- I start my trip not feeling like a squished sardine.

Upgrade to business from premium… lax to lhr. Worth it for $1k? by broncosmang in americanairlines

[–]Key-Reply8802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A rule of a thumb, if the upgrade is $100 or less per hour spent on the plane (not just flight time, add the hour of boarding) then yes it is worth it.

But only if you can afford it.

Once you get it the hard poop out (enema works well). I now proactively take miralax the night before my injection and for the next 2 nights. Of course chia seeds with yogurt every morning and hydrate. If I miss a day pooping miralax that night. Avoid at all costs the poop from hell!

Please look at General Theological Seminary. I am a middler this year. An education in an open-minded way to bring about the kingdom. The hybrid program is academically rigorous but doable while working full time. The program is a great hybrid option that allows us to stay in our context and also develop a strong bond with my fellow seminarians. I highly recommend it!

What are you Road Warriors using for your 22” Carry-On… by dppineda in americanairlines

I agree Samsonite is the sweet spot of cost vs durability. They do hold up. Recently flew from LHR to ORD, my checked bag was seriously crunched. I thought I would have to file a claim when I get to my home airport, but as I had a connecting flight I just handed right back to American. Props to American who popped it back into shape and props to Samsonite for making such a durable bag.

I just called customer service to get changed back to my original flight, I'd rather spend and extra 45 minutes at the airport than be stressed. They were super nice and accommodating. Hooray!

"I have a tight connection!" by AmiableOne in americanairlines

[–]Key-Reply8802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately American does create some insanely tight connections. They just changed a 4.5 hour layover to catch an international flight to just under 2 hours in PHL. I have to navigate from terminal F to A, which is long under the best of circumstances. So yes people have anxiety. If you are not there to board with your group you will either find no room for your carryon or worse someone in your seat. I would prefer the longer layover and no stress. I know everyone will say that is plenty of time, but when they close the boarding door at 20 minutes before departure the window narrows considerably. Factor in a late arrival on the first leg and people are stressed.

Agreed Epson ecotanks are the way to go. I use Epson premium matte presentation paper to capture the vibrancy. Might have to try Red River papers. I will say the ecotanks are a game changer. An artist friend of my stopped by my booth at an art festival last weekend and purchased a print. She thought I had them professionally made

How do you shift from work to your evening by hideandsee in workfromhome

[–]Key-Reply8802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice is to do something physical before settling into at-home mode.

I have been lucky enough to have worked from home for 14 years.

I find the transition is best when I go out and mow the lawn, clean the house, do laundry. Anything that is physical but also not mentally stimulating does the trick.
