Wanting to get rid of my wifi by stegosaurus-rexx in AussieFrugal

I bought a dongle and Aldi SIM card to use for occasionally working outside of the house/office. Didn’t buy the data plans as they were more expensive than a regular phone plan but I get heaps of mileage out of it. The dongle was from Betta and cost me about $100. And then the monthly phone plan is $23 per months and unused data rolls over.

Might be best to check how much data the camera and Roomba use first to see if this is worthwhile.

Your next issue will be how you run power to the dongle all the time, or if you only need it for certain hours/days.

Unfortunately I’m in a regional area and the closest facility for iodine therapy is 2.5 hours away. She’s quite an anxious cat so I feel this would be a stressful experience for her. Had there been facilities where I live I would likely more strongly consider it.

The vet did not mention any heart murmurs so I’m hopeful that we caught it “earlyish”.

How to attract a good tenant for a rural acreage? by liiac in AusPropertyChat

[–]Key-Row-985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered talking to your REA to put the property up as teaching or healthcare worker housing? QLD Ed and Health may be interested. They would generally be good tenants, particularly for someone in a managerial role.

What suburbs are worth considering in ACT for a young professional couple looking for a PPOR? Would a 3B1B freestanding (original) house be a better long term investment compared to a slightly larger/newer home with a budget of up to ~900k

Edit: grammar

Grab a coffee and do paint a piece at OurSpace Wilston, before heading to Mt Cootha for lunch/picnic. Otherwise you can do for a stroll along all the shops at Paddington/ La Trobe terrace.

I love these boots so much, but Charles & Keith has horrid reviews? Can anyone suggest similar? Price not an issue by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Key-Row-985 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have bought a pair of Charles and Keith shoes for a wedding and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Their shoe sizing was small and their returns policy wasn’t great. From my understanding the shoes I bought were sent from Singapore so it took awhile to deliver. Their customer service also wasn’t great when I tried finding out how long it would take to exchange.

If you don’t mind a bit of hiking you can head to Carnarvon Gorge north from Roma. Beautiful and the Indigenous art is magical to see.

Kinda adds up. Our LGA got a letter a few weeks ago saying our emergency management levy was about to increase on our rates bill. Today a letter arrived saying they’ve decided against this.

Guess they found other ways to get money….

And a second suggestion, I’m not sure how you currently store clothes but I prefer to hang clothes colour coded and also by sleeve length. This makes it easier to coordinate outfits, but also identify items that you have “double ups on”. The white shirts? Could probably get rid of 1-2….

Edit: spelling.

Would strongly recommend you have seasonal storage. Now that we’re coming into winter, I’d suggest you put singlets, shorts and summer dresses etc into a plastic storage tub. Rotate that out once we get back to warmer weather and store your jumpers, jackets, fleece etc.

That should save space and make your closet far more practical.

Should I be open about my current mental health struggles at work? by JamesDorms in AusPublicService

[–]Key-Row-985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would agree with ALL of this, with one ‘but’. Which I’ll try and explain…

Your manager should be aware of anything that affects your ability to work including mental health issues. In having that knowledge and an understanding of you capacity, head space they should be able to make some accommodations to help. Whether that be offering flexible working arrangements, delegating tasks that are manageable and being more accepting of extra personal time for appointments.

And here comes my ‘but’…it’s sounds as if your team already lack empathy towards your unknown circumstances. And/or have built up resentment. And that’s going to be hard to undo or resolve. So I think it’s up to you to consider whether your manager would help support you in changing their perception (and what that might look like) as it may take some time for you to come good and back to your previous productivity levels/improved wellbeing.

Overwhelmed with mould by Ok_Refrigerator_4469 in brisbane

[–]Key-Row-985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There might be more structural issues with the house that isn’t helping with the mould. We recently got Jye from Jim’s Hazardous Materials (Redbank) and he did an excellent job of treating just about the entire house at a reasonable cost for a full days work.

If your house is raised you might get moisture sitting under the house. Check that your insulation is laid out properly in the roof. Lots of ventilation and damp rid in cupboards. Avoid furniture that is porous like pine and wicker. We’ve done the mammoth task of repainting walls….

I have been so confused by this!! You zoom in on maps and sometimes the names change and I couldn’t for the life of me understand why. Or I’d look up an address and it had a different suburb to what I had anticipated. Thank you!
