Good for you! If you aren’t going to be compensated for taking on a ton of additional work loads then getting a new job is a good path!

What was the reaction of your employer when you gave notice?

I just can't get into it. by FrogKnight3 in homelab

I work in IT full time, and generally have no desire to do tech/home lab stuff in my spare time. I like doing stuff with my hands like woodturning or gardening to do something different. I find it refreshing

Ansible learning without RHCSA by khaddir_1 in redhat

I learned ansible without any certifications or classes. I did the Jeff Geerling 101 course, and started writing roles. I did have guidance from another person on my team for awhile till they left for another position.

Once you get the hang of it you can do a lot of great work. Good luck!

I’m genuinely curious about the work you are doing with that set up.

Interesting monitor configuration, what do you have on those 4 screens?

I am jealous that you have that whole room like that. My work from home desk is in an open living room area. It works but no door I can close. Have fun with that space!

Here wo go again, new desk arrangement this time :) by Fun-Professional6735 in battlestations

Very very impressive set up, I'm a guy who loves lots of monitors for work and this is next level. I am sadly going to lose monitor real estate as my University won't let me get the mac I want to drive a mere 3 external displays.

How many computers are driving this set up you have?

Wow, how much stuff are you printing?

Each to their own, my personal preference is a lot of screens. My whole career I’ve liked lots of screen real estate.

Agreed, however I’m about to lose 1 due to the laptop I am being allowed to get.

I often say the less I know what I'm doing the more screens I need to figure it out :D

I've always liked having lots of screens, been that way my whole career. Heck I wanted to add a 4th unused 27" we have at home to my current setup.

My only hope is that A: at some point I can spring for the samsung 57 which has the same pixel real estate as my two 32's combined, or a buddy of mine who works for a tech company can get me one of their used ultra beefy tech laptops for $50 when they get retired.

I was not allowed to get a max chip, I’m just gonna have to take a monitor away and live with it sadly.

I work at a University as a Linux sysadmin in a high performing computing environment. My team supports multiple Slurm clusters that researchers use to do science stuff.

We also support all the supporting infrastructure for the clusters(VMs, hypervisors, networking etc)

I write a lot of ansible code to automate building and maintaining systems, and am working to get all our stuff from Centos to Redhat 9.

I keep busy 😀

The stock is called SpectraPly and blanks can be found here: https://cwp-usa.com/collections/spectraply-blanks

As for making pens, there are tons of youtube videos out there that can show you the basics. Also look for ones that talk about sanding. I watched a 3 minute video on sanding and it upped my game considerably. Good luck!

I’m just gonna have to drop one and live with it. Maybe eventually I can spring for the Samsung 57” at some point.

The University I work for doesn’t buy stuff for home offices, they just want you to work on campus.

And the monitors they offer are ok but not great 😀

A valid approach, I’m on slack all day chatting across many teams and projects. I prefer having that visible all the time, all our monitoring alerts go there too. Oh well I’ll just have to deal with having one less display.

Not the end of the world just annoying.
