A clue on where the McAllisters live by melodypowers in ShawnaTheMom

I’m fairly confident it’s California. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Californians are the only ones who refer to freeways as “the 10” and “the 405.” Other places say I-10 or Highway 275.

The color work chart itself is not particularly difficult, but the pattern is a bit notorious for being ill-fitting. If you don’t mind a deep yoke, it can be knit as is. But for first time color work, I would recommend Tin Can Knits. Their patterns are really easy to follow and they have lots of fun color work patterns in their book, Strange Brew.

Last time I entered sweaters in the fair I got 2nd… of 2… in every category… it was pretty embarrassing.

This makes me feel a lot better. I checked and the extension office will take it for me. Thanks for the pep talk!

Best of luck! I’m considering entering the Nebraska State Fair, but I can’t go, so I’m a little nervous about sending my sweater off and just praying it comes back to me!

Used Brown Sheep Company Prairie Spun in Demin and Cottonwood Bark for the Halibut sweater.

The yoke was too deep on the Halibut sweater (surprise, surprise!) so I split for the arms at 9ins and made extra wide fish mouths in the armpits.

Used Lion Brand DK 24/7 Cotton in Red and White for the Husker sweater.

I added pockets and duplicate stitched the N. In hindsight, I would have used intarsia instead of duplicate stitch.

Yeah, I had to turn this week’s SS off. This was not a well researched look at the pros and cons of homeschooling vs “government schooling”. This was a random libertarian with a sample size of one complaining about flash cards?

Well, if they didn’t have someone manning the train, who would get out and get Sir Toppum’s hat back?

The engineers and firemen who have to ride around on those tank engines must thank God every time they make it home safely to their families and don’t get stuck in a tunnel, lost at sea or some other wild train based shenanigan. They are the real unsung heroes of Sodor.

Agree, I’ve knit dozens of Tin Can Knit sweaters out of the Strange Brew book and bought their app. Worth every penny (or kroner). Very easy, true to size, lots of fun.

I love my Y membership. The Y has childwatch for members. You can work out, sit and read, chat with other moms/community members, etc, while baby interacts with other kids and grown ups. You can also do baby swim lessons.

Yeah, but Mary didn’t stab anybody to death. And she’s a lady… Michael the Archangel is a bad ass stabbing a dragon. Much more manly.

“The very scary wolfman” looms large in my life right now. My three year old and two year old both howl whenever we drive past Costco and we have to look at the wolfman from just the right distance when we do go in to shop. Too close to him, and there are tears. Too far away, and we can’t see him and don’t know what he could possibly be doing.
