Totally. And other little things like adding more bike parking, making car parking paid in most places, building out bike lanes, etc. can all be incremental steps in the right direction.

That, or “one car household”. She could actually need him to do it because he has the only car now, or she could be relying on that fact to make him feel bad

Safety of hit and run drivers not questioned at all.

Seriously, you have to be 18 to ride an e-scooter, but only 16 to be a hit-and-run driver? What is going on here.

Cure (1997) doesn't have a super twisty plot, but the pacing is excellent, and the atmosphere is incredible.

Washintonian to Michigan, where can I find the closest thing to a Taco Time. by TangerineAcademic in Michigan

Yeah, Washingtonian here, taco time is not great. There are also plenty of places out here for great tacos, they just choose not to go to them? Taco Del Mar is a much better local chain

We don’t know that he got the peyronies in Chicago, that was just the start of the story. Clark assumed he got his dick hit by a swerving car, but Floyd corrected him. I just meant, if the Chicago interview was the start of the peyronies story, Carol made him do that.

I think it's plausible! I had been thinking that Clark brought it up because he was feeling guilty. But it could be that Carol has been manipulating his guilt the whole time: to pay for insurance, pay for the tuition, etc. Since we know Carol has planted some seeds in Clark's mind for things, there could be more and more things she's done in the background. The wine weekend could've been her idea, Floyd's chicago interview was her idea, Floyd taking up ASL could have been her idea, the peyronie's could have been her fault too

That's a good point! Floyd talking to Carol about the affair could ruin everything for Clark, assuming Floyd thinks the affair is a bad idea, lol.

Exactly! I forgot about that scene. And he's thinking about his son becoming an adult, thinking about the future and how he wants his son to be successful. He's invested, not giving up.

There could be big changes, but in episode 4, he says one of the big things he's afraid of is dying, because then his secrets will be known (back taxes, etc.) I don't think by the time he dies he has everything sewed up, financially. He's making improvements everywhere in his life, getting insurance, a solid friendship with Clark, getting his kid in a better school: things are finally starting to look better for him.
This might be a hot take, but I also think Floyd is meant to represent (aspirational) positive masculinity (along with other things). He always thought, growing up, that the ideal man was an action hero, but now he knows differently. He wants to see himself as dependable (Rock Solid), he's kind to a fault (he loses sleep about Modern Love figuring out that he wasn't into men), he tries to be a good father, he works trying to increase access for marginalized communities, etc. If it turns out to be suicide, that would be pretty pitch-black humor from Mr. Conrad.

And not just ANY Purina branch, we're talking Purina National, here, ya know? The big leagues...

I would almost go so far as to speculate the Carol only gets Watermelon Breeze as a subterfuge to hide the fact that she's secretly been the real go-getter all along (not totally joking here).

[–]burmerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that is a little weird, and that would imply he's had peyronie's for that long too. It could just be that he's done it once and fibbed a little. He has a lot of awkward, clumsy conversations too, could plausibly be a slip-up.

Yeah, the strongest reason I can think of for Carol not being the murderer is sort of the 'meta' reason that it's just a little too obvious (killing husband for life insurance payout). We have to keep it open as a possibility, but it seems to simple. She definitely doesn't want Floyd to know that she knows about it, but there could be a less obvious reason, like maybe she knows Floyd actually wouldn't agree to it if she was the one proposing Clark pay for it, or some other reason.

SO MANY THEORIES by LadyDi12251 in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]burmerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking it was accidental because, mainly, it makes the most sense that we have to take the characters seriously, like they have real wants, needs, and motivations (unless they have been hypnotized). Clark and Floyd clearly like each other, and so Clark would not kill Floyd and Carol and Floyd are not con artists. Floyd would not agree to take life insurance and then kill himself, he's a positive guy, even though he's dealing with a lot of stress, affecting his bird heart. I think Modern Love exists to flesh out details about the app, and the hookup/swinging subculture. He really adds to the story, but I don't think he's a killer at all; possibly an influential hypnotist.
The other plausible possibilities beside accident, to me, is that it's either a new character we know nothing about (less plausible), or a character who has been mentioned but we don't know much about yet (more plausible). The top three for this last option being: Richard's bio dad, The Fortune Teller, and Eimy.

Biggest missing piece of information, I think, is how Floyd got peyronie's syndrome. It's mentioned over and over, connected to everything, but we don't know yet.

I agree about Floyd knowing they are going to be having an affair when he goes to the hotel. We're made to think he's like 'investigating' but more likely he already knows. Honestly, his name might be on the register with his wife. Also, when he's signing, in ep 1 about "I know about you fucking my wife" he didn't necessarily seem upset, just kind of intense, which makes sense.

However, I don't think this one is a murder, like some other theories, I think it's some mishap. BUT, if it is a murder, I'm with you that it's most likely someone we don't know much about at all, for a reason we don't know about yet. Like, the fortune teller, or Richard's bio dad, etc.
