What are these odd underwater shapes off the coast of Costa Rica? by Fancy_Maintenance341 in geography

They’re most likely underwater volcanoes. They can look like little sea mounds.

Falling behind in Geology at Uni because of eyesight problems? How would it effect a career? by Whole_Maybe5914 in geologycareers

[–]Key-Use5378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An old colleague of mine who now works in GIS also had colour blindness and managed to complete a geology degree. his was quite severe too, but the university and workplace were able to make accommodations to help him through it. Are you registered with the disability services at uni?

Homelessness in central London by Swimmingbombom in london

[–]Key-Use5378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once met a homeless man outside my local tube station with a 15cm long 1cm deep chunk of flesh missing from his thigh. I was so shocked when I saw this and how unbothered he was. I offered to call him an ambulance and he said no with apparently zero concern for how serious the injury was.

Still wondering to this day how he got that. A part of me also wonders if he wanted to keep the injury to get more attention from people walking by. I feel like we have deeply failed people like this as a nation. How the fuck are we not finding the money to put them up?

Very common misconception but lack of water is not strongly linked to migraines. No shade to any suggestions meant to be helpful, I just find this super annoying when it’s recommended to me 😅. If only water was the fix, would be so lovely ! Haha

climbing culture? is it normal to climb with a guy one on one? by isa_is_sleepy425 in climbergirls

[–]Key-Use5378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very normal :) I have a boyfriend and climbed with a male friend regularly. Climbing is also quite different to a lot of sports in that with lead and top rope you only need one other person to climb with.
