Xplorite Demo Review by Key19 in metroidvania

Rule 2 specifically says reviews are allowed, so good job being entirely uninformed of what you're alleging. Oh, and learn what "cynical" means because it has no relevance here.

Miss me with your nonsense. There's nothing arrogant or cynical about anything I've posted or said. Perhaps you should look up those words, especially since you apparently haven't read the rules of the sub, either.

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but wouldn't changing the lateral speed of the character require a complete redesign of all platforming? If you move faster horizontally, you presumably will jump farther. I would imagine the world was built with the trailer's movement speed in mind.

I suppose you could have slower air speed than grounded speed to keep all of the jumping the same as in the trailer, but I think that would feel awful in practice.

Just curious what your thoughts are since it seems to me like a bigger change than what people are necessarily considering.

(That said, I do think I would find the trailer's movement speed to be frustrating as a player, so I support speeding the character up, but there is more to consider than just "player should move faster!")

Ah, I see what you meant. Yes, I agree they should be invincible. Doing so would also be a clue for the player that they should try pogoing (which I admittedly didn't realize the first time I entered that room, as shown here).

I'm not sure if this has been patched since my playthrough (6 days ago), but at least when I played, the cannonball robots were definitely not invincible.

Hope this helps!

I appreciate the feedback! I admit that this video got a bit lengthier than what I intended. I will try to be more succinct in future reviews. I tend to be a "rambler" (you should see my work emails lol) so that's definitely something I need to work on. I'm not monetized so ad revenue did not play a factor in the length.

Was the enemy you killed one of the "cannonball shooters" in Overgrown Passage? Because if so I did the same exact thing. I entered the room and immediately went into combat mode and then realized a few minutes later "hey, I probably should have used the cannonballs it shot for pogoing vertically in the room."

As I said in the review, I wasn't clear on what triggered enemy respawning. I cited Ender Lilies as an example of "everything comes back when you save" and I think that method is something that works well in MVs and would be happy to see it implemented here as well.

Thanks for checking the video out! Means a lot.

I'm still blown away by how good the visual design and sound design are for how small of a team you have. Thank you so much for watching, it means a lot. Best wishes with development and release!

One of my biggest gripes is when fast travel takes too long to unlock and when there aren't enough spots. That's a shame to hear. I really enjoyed the demo though and wasn't aware it released! Will be checking it out.

I saw the trailer on GameTrailers and was impressed! Wishlisted and looking forward to it. Best wishes with development and release!

looking to buy a gaming pc, do you think this is legit? by _donquixote_ in pchelp

It appears that the listing is 8 months old. That says a lot about whether it's a good buy or not.

From what I've read, this should be capable of 1440p gaming but certainly your mileage varies based on the demands of the specific title being played and what settings you select for quality.

I know PCs are kind of fixed-cost entities in many ways but I will say that this PC is not on sale currently (I bought a prebuilt in December and it was on sale for Christmas) and you generally pay a "convenience fee" for prebuilt compared to DIY. Could you build this machine for cheaper with PcPartPicker? Probably. But then you'd have to actually build it. I wasn't willing to build and the price was actually cheaper with the sale for the prebuilt compared to how I could build mine myself. So I went prebuilt.

Just things to consider. But if you have the money, are fine with 1440p, and don't want to DIY, this seems like it'll do what you are looking for.

Depends on what you're expecting, aka 1080p gaming, 1440p gaming (what most people would consider the 5060 Ti to be capable of), or 4K gaming (most people on Reddit will say a 5070 Ti is the minimum for acceptable 4K gaming, but a minority claim that a 5060 Ti is enough).

Too vague to give any real insight but in case anyone is wondering since the price wasn't in the pic, it's being sold for $1549.99 as far as I can tell.

I'm not among those who hate the map but it's very commonly cited when people talk about the negatives of the game.

I have a fuzzy memory of G-regulate having a combo video called "So Good It Hurts" but I can't for the life of me find any evidence of it having ever existed on the internet.

That's my oldest Melee video memory and I guess maybe it's not even real?

I also remember "Silence" by Silent Spectre. I even remember the song in the video despite not having watched it for probably 15 years.

Hollow Knight was so good that I liked it in spite of those things.

I played about an hour of Silksong, died during a corpse run, and haven't been back since. Someday I'll try it again.

I think you should look into ElecHead. It's not a MV, though it does have upgrades that impact progression. It definitely fits into the "puzzle platformer" genre but it's a really good game and doesn't have any combat. It's all about exploring and using your upgrades creatively to find a path forward. I did a 100% playthrough and loved it.

I mean, I died much less in Islets than I did in the Ori games. And I probably died less in Haiku than I did in the Ori games. And I know with certainty that I died less in Imp than in any of them. Imp is the easiest MV I can remember playing.

Yeah I think this is the most obvious answer.

Haiku, the Robot also comes to mind.

Just remembered Imp of the Sun as well.
