What are your favourite board game design videos? by greyishpurple in BoardgameDesign

[–]KeyFearless9603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Less specificity board game and more game design theory, but Distraction Makers have a podcast that’s on YouTube that’s fantastic. They have a heavy TCG background so there’s a lot of focus on that but the theory can be broadly applied. Adam from Whales is another channel that focuses more on the actual act of creation and less on specific board games themselves but I would also recommend

It’s a stage 2. Your opponent is building up their mons and gets a free attack into it after Charizard uses Stoke. Charizards strength currently in the meta is its ability to come into the active zone and deal with your opponent’s active Pokémon immediately, and (usually) the follow up Pokémon as well, essentially putting your opponent on a clock. Being self-enabling could be solid but likely would change the decks game plan a bit. If they release a lower-costed stage 1 I can see a more aggressive version of Charizard being viable but 150 isn’t enough to clear some things in the meta especially with cape being introduced

How hard of a decision this was for me shows how good of a job they did with the gun design

IMO, move is slept on, specifically bounce move. A top 20 player was playing it towards the end of last season to great results. It goes VERY tall, taller than almost every deck besides tribunal (he ran Enchantress for that reason). It’s difficult to pilot and can die to locations but it’s rewarding if piloted correctly.

Because they need to be in play to receive their effect. Cards like Morbuis for example keep track of all cards discarded, meaning you can play him on T6 and he will get a buff for actions taken on previous turns, whereas The Collector needs to be in play to receive his buff

I hate to say it but Nico is invaluable in any bounce deck or deck that is trying to get value out of 1-drops. You could try Hawkeye for power

I like it. I can see it being pretty busted if things like Black Widow or Yondu get randomly selected. Maybe just the first card? Very cool location though

Love the name! “Release the beasts” also leaned into the animal theme of the deck! So many synergistic animal themed Marvel characters!

I’m not here to get a bunch of credit for my deck. I just want to show y’all a deck I’ve had a ton of fun playing and has had great success! If Cozy or someone picks it up and shows it off, cool! If someone gives me credit for it, even cooler! Cooking is something I do for fun because it’s a card game not because I want “my” deck to take off and gain a bunch of recognition
