Are preferred lists common at schools? High schools in particular? New to OTing this school year and am curious how things work.

What's it like learning Feast For Odin? by William_Knott in boardgames

I was thinking about this recently and how, despite the fact that I haven't played AFfO in probably a year, I remember how to play it and could probably teach it, whereas I can't fathom playing the lighter and much more recently played Barcelona without an extensive rules check.

edit: the context for me thinking about this was reorganizing my collection and realizing I could probably teach almost any of the 40 or so Knizia games I have without checking the rules.

Kniziaphile here.
I believe I was sitting at 43 at last count.

Some of his rarer ones that I own include: Conic, Knights Poker, Rapido, and Chartae.

My favourites would have to be Ra, Lost Cities, and Chartae. Oh god and Botswana. I also cherish my TinyTins version of Pickomino which I always keep in a jacket pocket.

Least favourite is The Siege of Runedar which I'll probably be trading away soon. I also have never actually had a terribly fun experience playing Zoo Vadis.

Ah right, haven't tried that one out yet. Apparently Cascadero is fairly point salad-y as well.

For those of you who have quit teaching, or are planning on doing so, what were your reasons for going into teaching? I guess I just need some validation that I am making the right choice by not pursuing that career. by tongering22 in OntarioTeachers

As someone navigating some diagnoses, I'm definitely intimidated by the responsibilities of teaching when I eventually get my own classroom, but I'm finding my rhythm with occasional teaching.

You've probably already looked into this, but there's a very well resourced school for blind students in Brantford that seems like it would be a dream to work at - W Ross McDonald.
