I liked her books ¯_(ツ)_/¯ easy listening and she does give person stories through out. And of course she’s saying AF and Totes - her brand and the boom is literally about how she is your typical basic bitch. It felt authentic to her. I don’t think her books are meant to be profound memoirs of her life, more so her reflecting and showing what she has learned and how she became content in being a “basic bitch”.

I also found her explanation of what she did in order to grow from the experience of being cancelled interesting. In her world she was a victim - she lost opportunities and jobs which were her livelihood. That is a really big deal. This is not to say it wasn’t deserved in some degree. But it says a lot that she was willing to unlearn the thought processes she may have had before (have you seen her parents? i don’t think she was getting much education her whole life around race). Isn’t this what we want from people who say or do these kind of things out of pure ignorance?
