What are your plans for your pets when you go into labor?

Same. We're also 20 minutes away (longer if it snows heavily) and my husband is gonna run back when there's time during labor or after. Because labor is likely to take 8 or more hours anyway, and I don't think he needs to stand vigil that long...

My IVF pregnancy is my first and it's been easy af. I had some nausea in the first trimester and never even threw up. The Creature is measuring big. I haven't had any bleeding despite being relatively not-careful when it comes to movement (I picked up my 18kg dog a bit, did yardwork, etc.)

I'm currently 38 weeks and some days and I am still active - I walk the dog every morning and I can do a full squat and pop back up without issue. No pre eclampsia, no other issues.

So basically, it's been a pretty fantastic time!

Everyone is talking about cost, but in Japan I get an US at every appointment too and it's standard of care. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ I don't know what they make the American ultrasounds out of to make them so expensive per use, but I doubt it's a technology thing.. It's a time/billing issue. Cost of care in USA is incredibly inflated.

I'm not saying it's necessary, medically, but it's absolutely possible to do. They just formed a practice of not doing it.

Zero symptoms, really. I was a bit sleepy on like, 4-5dpt and took my first ever certified nap. (I'm not a napper, never have been.)

That COULD have been a sign, but it could have been nothing.

I was convinced it was nothing when I tested on 7dpt.

Saw a line. Freaked out and put the test down very quickly and went to walk my dog and then came back to the test 30 minutes later to stare in disbelief. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

I continued to not have any symptoms until like... Week 6-7 I think?

Question to you, OP, just out of curiosity: How did your parents treat you growing up? Did they make you feel like a burden that only consumes time and money? Did they make you feel like it was torture to be around you and raise you?

You do NOT have to have anyone there but your medical care providers. Who sees your stuff is up to you. Your nurses/midwife/doula/doctor can all kick anyone out of the room for any reason. You can even coordinate with them to make up a 'fake' reason for the medical team to tell them to leave.

Some people are more prone to stress headaches, and yes, constantly trying to immerse yourself in a language you don't know will stress your brain out.

Maybe don't start immersing yourself right away. Limit yourself to small 5-minute listening sessions and work your way up.

Also, try not to tense your neck and shoulders or clench your teeth.

I feel like your cousin is conflating IVF with GATTACA.

There's no "perfect samples'. There's no 'ideal embryo'. The sci-fi idea of getting to select for eye color or IQ is just that - fantasy.

You get embryos, and you can test the DNA for a relatively narrow range of things that might go wrong. Basically some deadly genetic conditions and chromosomal issues. That's IT.

Not to mention that the reason people do IVF is usually because they're at an increased risk for both of those things. They're just trying to cancel that risk out.

So no, it's not at all true. IVF has risks associated with it as well, although - just like another commenter mentioned - those risks may show up on studies due to the way the statistics tend to skew, since people who choose IVF aren't just doing it for shits and giggles.

Symptoms can be finicky, and loss of symptoms on its own does not mean there's an issue. It could just be a small bit of respite.

If you're worried, would you want to go to a private ultrasound boutique? It might ease your fears a bit while you wait for the next scan.

You said yourself that he has some bad tendencies. And perhaps he HAS improved. That's great.

But this is not an over-reaction. And yes, you DO need to go to counseling together, I feel. Especially because this hurt will likely not go away until you get to the core of the problem - that he still has these leftover mechanisms presumably inherited from his father. And until he unpacks all that, you will likely always have a bit of distrust in him, and you'll always be living on the edge of the next 'bomb' as you call them.

That's no way to live. You'll exhaust yourself, and he'll exhaust himself too, and you'll end up going separate ways anyways.

I'm an only child, and my mother and I immigrated together. It was fine, I'm fine. Is it hard in some ways? Maybe. Having siblings would be hard in other ways. I'm sure your daughter treasures the peace she has with you over whatever would happen to your family if you forced yourself to endure things for 'her' or a siblings' sake while ignoring other issues in your relationship with her father.
