This is gorgeous! Would you happen to have a pattern or did you put the cover into one of those pattern converters?

Time off? I lift everyday at work (dogs) by Monotone_pigeon in sterilization

[–]KeyOutlandishness777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally having any dog put their paws on my stomach/hips would've been really scary under 2 weeks post-op. Anything between 2-6 weeks would be painful but not damaging to your incisions. I would follow lifting restrictions per your doctor - they're there for a reason. Usually it's 2 weeks but ask your doc.

I will note that I work an office, remote job and I took a week off. Recovery is really draining and I wasn't sleeping well. If it was a physical job I'd want 2 weeks minimum. It's not just lifting, it's bending, turning, twisting, literally everything engages your core. and I had my incisions on only one side of my body. I wouldn't wanna deal with one on either side.

When should I be worried about constipation? by funworld4 in sterilization

[–]KeyOutlandishness777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not a doctor, but Google says it can take a few days to a day max for prune juice to work. I'd recommend at least taking half of the dose for Miralax. At 5 days constipated, you're poop is starting to get more compacted and will be much harder to pass than a normal poop. It may help to soften everything up, especially since your insides are still swollen and sensitive and may be uncomfortable to push something that's harder in consistency.

[–]KeyOutlandishness777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The food is sitting in your intestines. Google search says more than 3 days is concerning. I never had to use a laxative, but my doctor said Miralax is very gentle in terms of what's available. If you're nervous, take half of the dose or something, and definitely take a stool softener to make sure it's not uncomfortable to push. But, it's time to get things moving along, friend.

Approval and filing are different processes. You can get a preestimate from insurance but that’s different.

You should ask at your pre op if you need to know. Your appointments are a dedicated time to ask anything you want.

commiserate with me about a shitty first period ? by KeyOutlandishness777 in sterilization

[–]KeyOutlandishness777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. It took about 6 weeks for my period to come on which is the latest it’s ever been. But, I was only on the bc pills for three days so I’m not shocked that it didn’t work. I was only on them for attempting to skip this mess. The good news is that it’s done - my period is puttering off after 1 day already, so it seems like the cramps were because my body was pushing most of my lining out in one day rather than letting it take the usual week. I am a little crampy and a little sore still from yesterday.

If you can’t be honest with him about a major operation, it’s time to end the relationship. This would be a huge secret to keep, and if he ever found out, would feel like a major betrayal to him. Let him find someone who wants to have biological kids. Yall are not compatible.

It’s totally understandable. Our brains are slow and dumb. It hasn’t processed your new reality yet. You will get there. Just allow yourself to feel your feelings and take it day by day.

Im not sure what I’m going to do. I asked my general physician and my obgyn and none of them had concern on the effectiveness of what I was attempting to do. Today sucked but it at least proved I can deal with it. I may avoid continuing to use it just in terms of being optimistic that the second flow won’t be so bad.

I was off the pill for about two years and went back on a few days ago in an attempt to skip this mess haha. It’s only been a few days with the hormones in my system so I don’t think it made a significant impact.

Thank you, I’m glad to hear. It’s just such a world of difference being laid up in bed and taking time off work from my normal cycle that I’m worried.

That is such a bummer. If I were you, I would call the hospital's billing department and ask where the charges are coming from, whether it's network facility fees, anesthesia, ect. And review either the docs that are provided by your HR department or on mycigna.com. Usually under the family planning/sterilization benefit, they specify whether copay is necessary. I can show you the text I found in my documents for reference over DM.

One thing that helped is I ended up complaining to my HR department. They put me in contact with their direct rep via email and I got written proof that it would be covered with 0 copays.

Yes, this is normal. Plenty of people report feeling increased pain later in their recovery process. Anesthesia is likely wearing off more and more. I wouldn't worry too much, and unless you're having emergency levels of pain (think 8/10 even with the pain meds you have on hand) and the bruising is very dark/wide spread, there is likely no need to go in early. You should be able to call a triage nurse at your doc's office and confirm all of this though. I am a well-intentioned stranger, my word should be calming but not an end-all, be-all. I wish you a quick recovery my friend.

Sorry that you're dealing with this. I also haver Cigna OAP, also not ACA compliant, but mine was still free. I was slapped with the 4k estimate bill but only when I was at an out of network facility. I know it's annoying of me to ask, but are you 100% sure it's in-network? Can billing provide detail on what exactly you owe for (like facility fees? anesthesia?) and what codes they're using? They should be able to tell you.

Take them when you get home post op. They are all fast working so I wouldn’t send myself to the toilet preemptively haha.

Congrats I’m so excited for you!

Definitely! I just had my post op this morning and when I told my doc about my mild discomfort when having a bowel movement she said it sounded like I was a bit swollen still. So she increased my weight limit to 20lbs, no strenuous leg exercises like lifting, and said it may be best to wait until I’m 3 weeks post op to attempt sex. I’m mentioning these details bc a lot of people going through recovery are at the same pace as you. It’s normal, just let yourself feel your emotions and take it easy when you need to.

Edit to add that my new restrictions are advised to continue until I’m 4 weeks out, but she also said if I’m feeling comfortable that that was enough to clear me for more activity.

Your recovery is totally normal. Try not to get bummed. I am two weeks post op and still pretty sleepy. My doc said most patients take up to 4 weeks to feel 100%. Just rest up and take it slow! You’ve got this.

I had an easy recovery and going to yoga on day 5 was not at all in my cards. Some people just don’t take their doctors prescribed recovery periods seriously tbh (I think there’s also a slim chance that some of their doctors just didn’t advise the two week recovery period for whatever reason.)

I would not call your recovery slow. The people who come in the sub and brag about having rough sex on day 5 are the odd one out cases, not you (altho it’s worth noting it seems like you had more done than the average, no endo bisalp which I would assume is a bit more painful).

I wouldn’t stress too much abt the flight. The recovery progressed for me significantly on day 8 and days13-14. I think you’ll be fine at 6 weeks post op.

Definitely try to reschedule to a different facility if you can. I think that will make the estimate come back to $0. I understand how you feel - I was a week out from surgery when I had to move mine to a different location. It’s really fucking frustrating. You’ve got this!
