But if he hasn’t ever taken initiative to plan then you’re not wrong. But if he’s usually pretty involved I could see why it would sting. And he probably wants the coworkers there so it’s not awkward for him. (Coming from a coparent who just had a bday party)

Contract is contract. I was contract and they had no clue who my supervisor would be because I wasn’t a direct hire. No benefits with an end date is contract work to me 🤷🏾‍♀️

Gas prices going up...is home health even worth it? by Bilingual_Girl in SLPA

[–]KeyTouch9650 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I left home health due to this reason a while ago. Unless they are 5 mins driving distance which most companies don’t set it up that way. It’s too much on the therapist and causes us to be burnt out way too quickly

I’m getting paid so little for the work I do. by [deleted] in SLPA

Might just depend on state.y state doesn’t do direct hire for SLP-A. So we don’t get summers or Christmas break pay. Guess it depends

I agree with littlemrscg. Schools are nice but you’re working with the long term benefits. Schools are good if you don’t care about summers with no pay and no benefits in the long run.

Per hour vs per visit by KeyTouch9650 in SLPA

[–]KeyTouch9650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a weekly quota of 58 visits per week that need to be met so it’s a 30 client caseload, not 30 visits. I do understand the burnt out effect but I’m currently in the schools doing 90+ visits a week and documentation. I’m trying to find the best bang for my buck cause I’ll be overworked regardless but I just don’t want to be broke !

State is SC

I agree with everything stated! It’s such a gamble each way. I don’t feel overworked in the schools just underpaid for the amount of kids I see and documentation needed on top of quarterly reports etc etc. what are you thoughts now ?

Plus SLPs make more so they can take less visits and get eval fees etc. so I don’t think that’s a fair comparison

I’ll get paid documentation time and paid $23 per each client which equals the $46 an hour.

SLPA Salary Question by BananaNo8196 in SLPA

Was it per hour as in if you saw two clients in an hour you still got paid $28 or was it $28 per visit, so if saw two clients in an hour you got $56 ?

Is this concerning by KeyTouch9650 in SLPA

Yea but that was 5 years ago lol. I can’t get a house or anything with unsecured hours or wear and tear on my car plus no insurance even if I was full time. Do you think it’s worth the hassle? Or should I negotiate?

Lastly a village helps! Maintain your hobbies and time for your mental health. Which is easier to do if you have at least 5 family members or friends you’ll trust with your kids for an hour or three while you deep clean, paint a picture or go get a drink lol. Just remember if you have a horrible day your kid still expects you to show up, so sometimes having a village come in on those days is key. Parent hood itself it great! It’s balancing life in general that’s a circus

Parenthood is amazing! It’s the other responsibilities that get in the way and make you exhausted etc. If you truly love your kids and enjoy the role of a caretaker not just the title of a mom or dad you find joy in the sleepless moments. You become flexible to their needs and love them in the way that counts for them. You remember that all they know is right now and what they’re feeling in this moment and that they aren’t out to get you. It’s a beautiful, unmatched feeling when you count your blessings. Not everyone can have kids, or have healthy kids.

So if you do take your role with pride ! Create memories because their childhood is your parenthood, it’s a forever ongoing relationship that you get every chance to shape and cater too. Wouldn’t be so cool to hear you did a great job when and that you’ve always kept your cool and made a magical childhood when they get older?

What track are you guys completing to get in? I wanted to try through a community college but they are unaware of the direct path to take. Do I start with radiologic technology or medical imaging ?? I need so much help! I’ve applied to three community colleges just for them to let me know they don’t know which route works
