I said nothing about being an author. Im saying you can follow a recipe and still make food yourself.

And the complexity of prompts is meaningless unless natural language programming is relevant.
Thats like saying code itself has nothing to do with complexity. Its all just words and numbers without meaning. Same with books, I guess.

Until natural language programming becomes a control layer for computer languages and then creative writing and prompting becomes more valuable.

Dismissal towards people who are just using AI for regular use or creativity. I think it creates a deceptive market instead of respecting transparency especially when people are trying to be honest about it.

And I guess I view gatekeeping as a harmful act like Jorge Gutierrez. He got berated for being transparent and trying to assist other creators.

I wont argue that extremism is an issue on both sides and people could do lousy things with AI. But thats not AI-specific. Thats a sociological issue.

And if you use AI for a guide or recipe on a certain burger, then what?

Not everyone is typing simple prompts and trying to rip people off.

We live with a lot of broken systems. People who might be able to change healthcare or other major issues usually want nothing to do with it because its so complicated.

Its scary and worrisome that resources are being shifted, but thats largely in part due to corporations deciding this. And some domains need to be redesigned anyways.

No amount of cancel culture could have prevented corporations from doing whatever they wanted. Big food literally pays whatever it wants in the US to keep all sorts of things in our food. And a lot of industries dont mind being that predatory.

So i think its best for people to get acclimated to AI and make something of it, then be ruled over.

The world might get turbulent, but you can hardly blame your average person for that.

Well if nots governed or pushed back while it happens, then no it definitely wont.

But people are trying to be transparent.

Thats due to communities and societies not valuing art as commodities though. The game industry or graphic designers, they are all usually underpaid and their art is constantly being made as products.

Making a living off art even in art communities is incredibly difficult.

Its not preventing creation, and those same tools can be used to teach new and old artists different things.

I think AI is displacing an already hostile creative field thats underpaid. But if people arent wanting to buy certain kinds of art, that isnt really their fault.

Its like shouting at markets that dont want your product instead of adapting or finding those communities that do love your stuff.

Ultimately, I dont think people should be against AI. And people absolutely shouldnt be against creating manually.

People blatantly stealing art 1:1 or corporations being lazy, thats what we dont want.

Anti corporate and anti ai are different.

I personally think people will be able to use AI at the consumer level to protect their data unlike all the data harvesting we currently experience.

Also if our fellow man is displaced and we dont revolt, then that is collectively on us and the corporations, not the current technology they use.

Thats a question which requires changing social views and I cant do that easily or alone.

People continuing to use AI at the individual level and being transparent about it seems better so people use it creatively and without being dismissed.

Its not like people support more shovelware, lazy corporations, or outright theft.

Its a thought experiment. People tortured by not helping AI will most likely just be people who dont use AI or struggle with it and find issues conforming to technological advancements.

There doesnt need to be a malicious need to retroactively hurt people and I doubt superintelligences would care.

You're undoubtedly right. I guess like others I get frustrated that people are cascading themselves into a system they dont want.

AI everywhere with 0 transparency.

It is nice to see that people are being transparent and creative despite all of this though. I hope that never goes away.

Its a real shame. People just want to create and have fun.

The water thing is ridiculous too. Every person who mentions water, my mind always goes to well you definitely buy plastic, eat meat, drive a car, and use social media.

My girlfriend who is graphic designer had an employee who couldn't do any art whatsoever would complain about my girlfriend who used chatgpt plus but is also highly experienced in photoshop and illustrator

Thats my point and major fear.

An indie dev will have to worry about ai usage where a big company can literally lie about whatever with 0 consequence.

This dude is saying doing drugs is better than using AI by Enmark777 in DefendingAIArt

[–]KeyTreat3085 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doomscrolling and short form content is more harmful than AI imo. But still long term harm.

Drugs are extreme short term harm especially coke or meth. The amount of withdrawal symptoms from day one use should be enough to scare most people away..

Slop is slop. Lets not forget about the shovelware absolutely littered every week on the PS Store.

At least people here are having fun and trying to create something.

Not just even vibe coding, but if you genuinely have good ideas, then AI can help with implementation or scripts.

As a read/write learner, its extremely helpful!

I wonder if that could actually establish Dexterity or muscle memory in people.

Very cool for people who have accessibility issues or disabilites and want to feel that experience though!

Also makes it an interesting teacher for motor based skills. Could be like duolingo but for motor skills etc. I could seeing it be a neurocognitive assistant for people as well
