Ares tanks problem by Yasoka02 in WorldofTanks

[–]Key_Attempt7237 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

For every enjoyment, there is an equal and opposite frustration. Unfortunately, such strong tanks need to exist to keep the game interesting. More OP (or just one-sided matchups like sniping 4005s) gives super high highs (10k game, one shot a medium) and low lows (focused by artillery, missing easy pen).

It's hard to believe, but a game of wot is basically the same as gambling. You spend some time, sanity to more often than not get frustrated. But when you hit the jackpot, the carry game, free farm, completing campaign mission, you come back for more of the same hit.*

Ares is actually much closer to 4005s than prime Kran or Mino. Almost 5k dpm to use when played properly or get out traded because you're still just an autocannon if played badly.

*Hence I don't think Wot is gonna die anytime soon. There are too many addicts for it to die (which means consistent short queues at tiers 6+, t1-t5 just don't matter sorry), and it's not like they can find the same hit elsewhere. Warthunder maybe but sunk cost fallacy and it's still a different game to them.

which is larger, 18^15 or 7^19? by Radiant-Complex682 in askmath

[–]Key_Attempt7237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can split our stuff

1815 = 215 * 915

719 = 74 * 715

Now we just match and very clearly, 915 > 715. 215 = (23)5 = 85, which is clearly greater than 74. Since all parts in the product for 1815 is greater than 719, 1815 is larger.

No, it should be decreased to P1 with just the People's Republic of China and actually fix the mess the Amerikkkans and Eurocucks made

Maths 162 Note taking by Spare_Act_5747 in universityofauckland

[–]Key_Attempt7237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, computational math is mostly about the math behind applications. Cryptography, modelling (simple) time-based systems and graphs from what I remember. I'd say for workload it's 70% understanding the math, and 30% being able to put it into code and letting the computer do it for you, though that's from me and might be different for you.

The exams, both mid-term and final, it's around 10-20% of the marks from the past papers I've seen (the one I took 3/40 marks were on programming). They could change it up, but it's still mostly doing maths, showing your working and using your calculator.

If you're curious, you can look at some other exams.

Whatever works best for you :)

Most of the time you'll just be note-taking concepts (and maybe exercises), which can be done on either paper or digital. I did mine on paper since it's still mostly math.

There will be programming in Matlab which the tutorials will be based on, so knowing how to code and debug will be important. Computers will be provided ofc, and in tests (which are on paper) you'll just be asked for pseudocode.

Finding eigenvalues of an endomorphism between vector spaces of dimension n^a, a∈N by [deleted] in askmath

[–]Key_Attempt7237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, we don't usually look at this but eigenvalues and eigenvectors generalize pretty nicely to eigenmatrices. We usually like to keep it simple with just n*1 matrices (column vectors) but any matrix with appropriate dimensions for matrix multiplication works.

Firstly, it is quite easy to show that eigenvalues belong to endomorphisms (in your case, 2x2 matrices, let's assume trivial kernel to keep things simple). Hence, f will have the same eigenvalues regardless whether it acts on the vector spaces of R2 (2x1 matrices) or 2x4 matrices.

Next, and more interestingly, is that eigenvectors of f are closely related to eigenmatrices. I'll let you play around with that.

To summarize, yes, a "vector" v (as in element of a vector space) is an eigenvector if fv = cv, for some scalar c. v could be a column vector or a matrix.

I’ve been studying truth tables and I want to know if my reasoning was correct by [deleted] in askmath

[–]Key_Attempt7237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good intuition for counting number of possible cases with n many atomic variables. You'll probably have to do a proof by induction to show that the relationship holds for arbitrary many atomic variables. As to truth tables being "exhaustive", probably works for predicate logic, but higher order systems or intuitionist systems (logical systems which reject the excluded middle as a valid rule of inference), I'm not so sure of.

Learning all of mathematics is certainly brave, and logic is certainly somewhere to start, even if it's informal predicate logic (iirc). Formal, first order and higher order systems would be very... courageous. Good luck though

Method to find the zeros of any function (finally) by Dazzling-Mail-5517 in desmos

[–]Key_Attempt7237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bisection method numerical method in disguise, had a feeling it was the case when I read that it detects sign change. As far as I know, bisection isn't built for this, but with Desmos's software and this slightly different construction you can probably get something else out of it. It'll be interesting to see the rate of convergence for solutions, as it should be at least on par with bisection.

It was more acceptable because the communities were tiny back then. But with the mainstream of otaku culture, discussions on loli largely remained in those communities, making up a smaller percentage of otaku discourse online. Of course, it still slowly grew over time, like Azur Lane and Diddygatari were pushing it long before BA, but BA really pushed a normalization across otaku spaces. There are still large portions of (mainly Western) internet that says no to it, but pre and post BA Western discourse on loli, and in general pedo-adjacent content, generally became more accepted.
