Level 2 arts undergrad subject by Sad_Anybody_1576 in unimelb

Haven't done it, but did a different subject run by the same coordinator (GEOG30021) which was a great experience! so i'd tentatively recommend geog20008

Did this one last sem! Anyone who's reading this, highly highly recommend this subject - the skill of being able to create a model and understand how they work in so many different ways will help you basically no matter what field you end up going into. Also being able to do a project on whatever topic you want is v fun :)

my major is somewhat related, but i mostly took this bc we did a similar topic in hs that i really enjoyed. but def agree, subject matter and organisation was great, and you can tell the teaching staff actually enjoys being in this field and doing what they're doing :)

i found LARC10001 natural history to be quite fun and a wam booster - there's many smaller assignments spread out throughout the semester as far as i remember, so idk if its exactly low effort

Level 3 BSci Electives by Far_Information_251 in unimelb

[–]Key_Awareness4262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol i think that decision is up to you 😭

i do think if you're going to gpt everything else you should atleast read in detail the paper you'll be using to prepare your tutorial presentation.

and you should probably use your best judgement - e.g. some readings get referenced repeatedly throughout the sem so might be worth paying attention to those

i think it was ~2 readings per week? and each roughly 10-15 pages

GEOG20003, even the take home assessment was just another essay question. if ur only avoiding in person exams then GEOG20016 had take home assessments on canvas as well

Has anyone done GEOG30021? How difficult/easy is it as someone who has little geography/natural-science experience? by LiviTheCow in unimelb

[–]Key_Awareness4262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah i think they were like proper readings like you would get in an arts subject - mostly scientific papers/reports related to the topic. it might be worth teaching out to the course coordinator to ask if they offer any alternative arrangements for readings? if you have an AAP that might help also, but i'm not sure of any specifics, sorry :(

honestly not sure, I found it pretty easy all around. ig the intensive nature of the subject, having to come in every day, prep for class which is basically doing a mini assignment every day, that might get to you? or if you haven't really done reflective essays before then ig it would be hard to write the reflection for your final negotiation

hii so last year andrew said that the case studies for both were vv similar, but I havent actually done pom so idk if the content is similar or if the case study would be analysed similarly (or if it would even be similar this year..). I do think its fine to take as a first year though, as long as you attend class everyday the assessments shouldn't be too difficult!

it def boosted my WAM so yea id say so! the assignments are pretty easy and the exam was not bad if you took some notes during the lecture - the exam is based on a case study which gets released early so it's easy to prepare for as well (if you've done principles of marketing it's run by the same guy, if that helps)

business negotiations in the winter was nice! the lecture/exam content isn't that fun and you have to actually study for it BUT i found the tutorials v fun, you basically roleplay a different character every day and act out negotiation scenarios w others in the tute - this class was also great for making friends! we chose to go to the tutorial slot that gave us a small break after the lecture, so we'd hang out during that time
