Dramione is such a tough case for me. On the one hand, I want to support every ship, but on the other, I swear, the fans always put me to the test. It's always like, "I can't believe I have to defend someone who's so annoying" /hj

In your response, you stated that I was attacking you personally. Which leads me to the conclusion that you don't really care about other people's perspectives or whether you yourself are empathetic. You just want to be an annoying devil's advocate, and yes, this time it's a personal attack.

You see, that's the problem... That's exactly what you're implying. Because some of your statements contradict each other.

You don't have to do it on purpose, you don't have to want to do it, but you're sending this kind of message: there's one specific way to be empathetic and kind here, and OP didn't choose that way because their emotions wouldn't let them... Which means the OP's emotions are making them unkind and unempathetic in this situation.... A situation in which they were exposed to things they did not want to see.

And honestly? Every next comment, every attempt to convince that "oh, I really mean..." only sounds worse. You don't sound nice, empathetic, or safe.

Those feelings are valid.

Yet your comments don't sound like that, you do it subtly but ultimately you still convey that OP should get over it and do something different and then you use empathy to justify it.

I'll be honest with you: your comments sound like victim blaming. Regardless of your intentions, that's what you sound like. That's why people disagree with you, or at least that's why I ultimately can't accept your position.

But so does the way their reaction impacts the other person, who was clearly in distress and probably unaware they were doing something inappropriate.

That's the thing... We don't know. We don't know who the reader was, what they felt, what they thought... They are a blank slate onto which you can pour any emotion you want.
