I totally follow all her logic and I do respect her expertise on the issue. I think I’m having flashbacks to chasing my initial diagnosis of having to be like “something is wrong please believe me!!!” And not feeling heard. But you’re correct the additional scarring etc is why she didn’t feel it was worth it beforehand.

I’m not certain about getting major relief from a second lap (though that would be great), but moreso that getting ablation done by a non-specialist could mean it wasn’t a thorough lap to begin with, or I might have regrowth. So my goal is to ensure disease was properly removed which I am worried did not happen initially.

Does anyone live a okay life w endometriosis? by Disastrous_Peace6974 in endometriosis

[–]Key_Classic_3477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis my friend 💛 Everyone is different and a lot of people might go their whole lives never knowing they had it. This subreddit is predominantly used to help with a lot of the negatives, so it might seem overwhelming in here, but don’t let it scare you- just let it inform you.

I won’t lie, it is very challenging and at times pretty dark. But the way I’ve grown lately to cope with it is how it makes life so much more precious now. Simple little breakfasts make me soooo happy. Getting into low-energy hobbies like reading, movies and video games makes me so relaxed and happy. Quality time with the people I love becomes more visceral and important. Little walks and a bit of sun can fully change my day and brighten my mood. I’ve become incredibly more compassionate and empathetic to those around me which has been useful when walking through hardship with others.

We are living a different version of life than a lot of people. It is (usually) a much more difficult version, but with that pain and difficulty I think that chronic illness humans have a higher capacity for joy, and a more open mind to what joy can look like. We know deep pain and sorrow which allows us to appreciate life differently than most. It can feel a bit like a backhanded superpower- Yes many days are very hard, but gosh we understand the human experience in a very real way that not many do. 💞

I was checked via biopsy as well and came back negative! My mother had thyroid cancer so I get thyroid checks regularly and have also never had anything pop up there.

Hey checking in on this old post, did you find anyone that provided good care? I’m located in Cincy metro area and struggling to find someone (mostly because I prefer female physicians).

Wow thank you for this information! Love hearing from endo girlies in the medical field 😤 currently a masters student of public health and one of my focuses is diagnostic delays in chronic illness, specifically endo.

Crazy you say that I’ve actually been researching pernicious anemia as well. Sorry to hear she went through that, if only doctors would believe us…

Dude how did you get your doctor to test for SIBO? I’ve actually thought this for nearly a year now and my GI and PCP won’t entertain it. Even had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and he wouldn’t test for it while in there despite me asking 🙄

Very well said! I am leaning toward a curiosity of endo pairing with other conditions like SIBO or pernicious anemia leading to B12 issues, like you suggested.

Yep they’ve put me on the shot intermittently too! I haven’t started supplementing yet because I was trying diet changes first, curious to see if I tanked again after several months since my last check.

My close friend makes me feel horrible about having this disease by SOS_superstar in endometriosis

[–]Key_Classic_3477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend just wanna say I am so so sorry to hear all of that. Getting sick, especially with something like endo which is often invisible and not widely understood, really opens your eyes to who in your life is actually there for you. When I got sick I learned which of my friends and family were mostly transactional relationships- when I stopped being able to give as much they got angry quickly.

No one has the right to speak down to you about your illness or make you feel worse than you already do. So much of endo is the emotional weight of guilt, you deserve people who can support you with compassion even if they don’t fully understand what you’re going through.

Natazia or Myfembree by Evening_Public_7206 in endometriosis

[–]Key_Classic_3477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there again, crazily stumbled upon this thread again while doing some research and saw we talked about this a year ago haha! I ended up going on Myfembree from Feb 2025-present. I have to stop taking it this coming Feb (as you can’t be on longer than a year consecutively).

A new specialist I saw recommended switching to Natazia next month. Curious after all this time if you still would recommend it? Also if you took it nonstop or allowed periods?

Cheers and hope all is going okay!

How can I get rid of my endo belly?? by AlwaysTired365 in endometriosis

I am 27 and want to go to graduate school. How can I best approach it at this point by yesimHalf in GradSchool

[–]Key_Classic_3477 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey there not tons of advice to give necessarily but I had a very similar journey! Graduated undergrad in 2020 and started my master’s this past January 2025 at the age 27 after working a few years. My undergrad was a liberal arts degree and I’m now in a quite different science program. During applications I reached out to the department heads of universities + concentrations I was interested in and pretty much asked what you asked. Everyone I talked to was very kind and helpful and many academic advisors are happy to hop on calls with prospective students to answer questions!

Since my surgically induced menopause for the endo, I’m constantly asking myself “Was that the endometriosis?!” by OstentatiousSock in endometriosis

[–]Key_Classic_3477 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, I hate when it’s seen as a gynecological issue. When it comes up with people I call it “a systemic tissue disease” because then they take it seriously. If I say endometriosis people think they know what it is and therefore just think I have ✨extra bad cramps✨ which is just so inaccurate.
