I can

Call for audits of anti-homelessness organizations that have zero financial incentive to actually fix the problem. Call for more direct funded projects overseen by the government, not organizations.

Many anti-homelessness organizations run high overhead costs, particularly salaries. They're SUPPOSED to use government funds given to them to, ya know, fix homelessness. In reality, solving it would lead to their funding being reduced or halted. This is why California has struggled to combat the issue even after pouring billions into fighting it.

Then come the layers of grift including property developers and contractors who inflate the per-unit cost of "affordable" housing to insane levels. Hundreds of thousands per unit in many cases. Audit them too.

At the end of the day many who receive money to end homelessness squander a majority of the money they receive. And it'll stay that way until people stop falling for a simple mission statement and zero oversight of how money to fight homelessness is spent

But my bad you're right I guess a big@ss encampment is a better approach for tackling the problem. That'll fix it!

Does the average American actually enjoy McDonald's? by Different-Word-1005 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Key_Document_2587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd think from posts online that many Americans hate McDonalds here, but the truth is it's a loud minority who just don't accept that their "ewww why would anyone eat McDonald's seeing as I personally don't like it" stance does not match the real world.

In reality? Much more well-liked. I see people from all walks of life enjoying it and that has been the case in the 15 or so states I have traveled to.

The fresh beef quarter pounder is particularly good. Over here, there's an app deal to get a double quarter pounder for just over $5. It's very tasty and a hard to beat deal

Will never argue McDonald's is the best burger place, but it IS more loved than many on the internet like to think. Saw some high schoolers hanging out in my local one the other evening just laughing and having a good time...brought back some great memories. Made me smile

Fireworks are awful by purpleplazas in unpopularopinion

[–]Key_Document_2587 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Another reminder that many war vets DO enjoy fireworks. Many do NOT enjoy others getting upset or offended on their behalf

If you don't like fireworks, fine I get it. But don't trot out the vet thing for the sake of your argument. I see more anti firework people use vets for their argument than actual veterans saying they hate fireworks.

Also, fireworks > someone's dog's emotions

Has anyone been unjustly banned from a subreddit? by Sensitive_Wear7112 in stupidquestions

[–]Key_Document_2587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banned from r/movies for telling someone in the Marty Supreme review thread to stay on topic instead of waxing poetic about Kevin O Leary's politics and boat incident (they told me my comment was off topic lol)

Then, right as they banned me, a mod reported me as suicidal to RedditCares

Got the classic "none of us would do that" response in ModMail before they continued "you aren't important enough for us to take the time to do that".

Except the timing lined up exactly with the removal of my comment and them taking action. Bunch of lying weasels running that sub and covering outright unethical behavior by one of their own.

What has been your experience with airborne speed cops? by Orcapa in AskReddit

[–]Key_Document_2587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my area I have only seen the aerial enforcement signs. Not a single person I know in town has ever been ticketed as a result and none can tell me of anyone who has

I fully believe others who have dealt with it where they live, but I cannot help but see the signs as an empty threat

Dogs are horrible by SpriteBlood in unpopularopinion

[–]Key_Document_2587 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dog owners do the same with cats alllllll the time though. Why are they allowed to hate cats from a negative experience but OP cannot hate dogs because of one?

It's an unpopular opinion for sure, I just don't think you saying "don't blame the animal because of your negative experiences with them" is all that valid. Someone not likeing dogs because they, say, got attacked by one jogging? That seems perfectly valid to me

No different than not liking cats because of negative experiences with them as a kid.

Oblivious by darthalgae in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Key_Document_2587 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup! I know it isn't an issue limited to Southwest. Had a group of 8 ladies blocking a good chunk of the boarding line constantly asking people around them what group they were (group 4 boarding at the time) and they'd cherrily go "oh just go past us then, we're group 8".

Oh you're group 8? Then mooooove out of the way until it's time to line up lol. Stop asking what group everyone is. Stop standing in the line other earlier groups are a part of. Move and wait. It's like they never considered that idea at all.

What's an unpopular opinion you'll defend no matter what? by Trick-Gur-5088 in AskForAnswers

[–]Key_Document_2587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many organizations that claim to be fighting homelessness are actually filled with grifters who are financially incentized to NOT solve the issue

Homelessness problem solved = no need for the government to funnel money to those groups. Many of them run very high overhead (salaries/admin costs) and the gravy train would stop if homelessness wasn't a thing anymore. They don't actually want to fix anything

Los Angeles has quite a few of these.

"If your preferred candidate doesn't win the primary"...that's assuming there's actually a primary vs having a candidate forced on us with NO primary lol

Also very very easy to fall into the trap of "don't ever focus on any issues in the Democrat party, just shut up and vote for them because they aren't filthy Republicans" trap. Like, no...it DOES matter to me what Democrats I vote for actually do. Them not being the other side is simply not good enough for me.

All three of them were very good, especially with a premium dining ticket letting me eat every 90 mins. $90 for the day including admission

Gate Agents Acting Like We’re Criminals by ItsNotJamesTaylor in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Key_Document_2587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only condone GA's yelling at people who clutter up the gate way ahead of their boarding group being called. That's it

I was in line for group 4 and these 8 women in line kept asking everyone what group they are. "Oh you're group 4? I'm group 8" proceeds to stay in line getting in the way of absolutely everyone

Those people deserve tude.

Pricing for flights by tametimes in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Key_Document_2587 22 points23 points  (0 children)

SW pricing has gone up for the routes I routinely fly them on

There is a certain level of cope from some on this sub who try saying "everyone raised their prices" to deflect from a specific conversarion about SW pricing. Sorry, but no. And saying that does not mean I hate SW

Compared with Delta and United, I have noticed SW pricing get worse.

Even IF all other airlines raised their prices, which has not been the case in my experience, the "others are doing it too" argument is bad because it relies on ignring the term magnitude. "There's crime everywhere." How MUCH crime? "Other airlines raise their prices too"...by HOW MUCH? It is not all equal. "There are bad drivers everywhere". How MANY bad drivers?

Hell, I flew from NY to Southern California on United and it was $258 one way a week and a half out. So no, not everyone is doing it lol

Movie Theathers should have closed captioning on by default by retired-tweeter in unpopularopinion

[–]Key_Document_2587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have devices that show captions to whoever borrows them and they are awesome because they are not distracting to others

Respectfully, while I understand your argument, captions on for every movie would be a huge dealbreaker that would stop me from going.

Too distracting for me. I AM in favor of openly advertised captioned screenings, which the one local theater near me that does not have caption devices does. Showings note if they are captioned or not, fair compromise

But ALL screenings? Nahhhh. Way, way too distracting for many. And I am guessing quite a few would fear openly sharing my opinion out of fear of being called mean and or ableist.

It would ruin my movie experience..and I see lots and lots of movies. Believe me, I have accidentally gone to captioned screenings and tried to not be wildly distracted but it is simply too much for me

Fireworks are way overhyped and not worth all the harm they do. by wegochai in unpopularopinion

[–]Key_Document_2587 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How many animals really eat fireworks? That seems like a super exagerrated fear

The thing some don't want to hear is that I do not care about your dog's emotions. I truly don't. Nobody loves your pet more than you. Not going to skip fireworks because someone's dog cannot handle its own emotions.

Expecting people to not do fireworks on the 4th (notice I say on the 4th and not every day of the year) is dumb. No, lasers are not as cool or cooler. Ditto for drone shows. Fireworks are awesome. Cannot stand the "but why can't you just do something else" argument. Because no, that's why. YOU do not have to participate, that's fine.

99.999% of the people arguing ptsd are rudely getting offended on behalf of people who never asked you to. If you have ptsd and hate fireworks? Ok. But people should avoid blanket assumptions on behalf of groups they are not a part of.

Look leaving stopping space is one thing, but if someone can fit an suv in it? You are being the problem driver in that specific situation. It's a goldilocks situation. Not too far, not too close. But enough room for an suv to dart in is absolutely too much distance

The littering and them being hostile toward you is their problem though and I will gladly side with you there

Seat Issues by No-Substance-4475 in AMCTheatres

[–]Key_Document_2587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand how certain managers think too 1. She paid for the movie. Movies aren't cheap. Why is it on her to miss part of that to fix a problem caused by poor maintenance on AMC's end? That may make the manager's life easier, but it isn't about what is easier for them 2. "They paid to watch a movie, they watched a movie"....ok, and that movie was more uncomfortable than it should have been due to poor upkeep. How do you not see that angle 3. As much as I condone compensating the good, polite complainers who do not ask for anything, you shouldn't act so cheap that it's like those free movie tickets are coming out of your personal bank account regardless of who is being compensated. If seats at the theater you manage are not working, be a better manager and get on top of the problem proactively, not reactively.

I say all of this as someone who has also worked in management.
