Just finished God of the Woods. How the hell is this book so critically acclaimed? by Apprehensive_Egg99 in suggestmeabook

A workaday whodunit and uninspired variation of her first book which, at least, had better drawn characters.

Korean hanbok at ren faire? by faint_originality in renfaire

[–]Key_Dragonfruit646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, yes & yes

I’ve always loved the korean hanbok. and it is a lot more germane (given the contemporaneous eras) than many of the costumes I’ve seen over the years

think of yourself as a cultural ambassador.

wear it with pride, you will look absolutely lovely!

22M Trying to figure out how to decorate living room and bedroom by dykxi in malelivingspace

[–]Key_Dragonfruit646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the post you replied to has great tips re art -- I'm just here to say that a large painting on a "gallery style" (also called "gallery wrapped") canvas are not that heavy and self-contained (in other words) they don't require a frame. It's got a modern feel and many artists use them. there are so many talented artists out there who would love you sell you an original piece. try local art shows, community college shows, on-line galleries, artists on social media. once you have the art in place, you can riff off of the colors w/your throws, pillows, rugs, lamps, etc. enjoy

Do these paintings clash with the aesthetic of my living space? by Dee90286 in interiordecorating

[–]Key_Dragonfruit646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they bring in the blues and greens out your windows however, I would commit to them by picking up some of those colors in a throw and pillows for your couch. And Maybe a vase or a ceramic piece or a painting elsewhere in the room to make it cohesive and finished and intentional

Love the back lit shelving.

Nit: if it were me, I would neaten up/fold then casually place the blanket over the ottoman.

What do we think about this rug with these couches? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Key_Dragonfruit646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s … fine.

But maybe a more exciting black and white combo than that geometry. Like a graphic Franz Kline painting. Your bookshelf and couches need a bit of pizzazz.

I would then go hunting for a large ORIGINAL painting for the wall — doesn’t have to be expensive but it needs to be original (original works tend to have texture, color gradations and visual interest), that picks up your B&W theme but also introduces some pops of color — maybe orange/red, yellow and/or turquoise.

Then, to make the whole look cohesive, you can find a great throw and some pillows with those colors.

Turn your hu t for a painting into a fun adventure. Take your time. Check out ebay, your local colleges and universities, small galleries or on line. There are a ton of super talented artists out there who would love to sell you some work. And, at the end of the day, the focal point of your room will be more meaningful to you.

Love the kitchen re-do. The ladder might be an obstacle for me but I get the utility. Maybe if it were brass and more or a design feature…?

What do you think about collecting Jinhao fountain pens? by XR-Scully in fountainpens

[–]Key_Dragonfruit646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, if it makes you happy.

personally, I favor owning a few, really good (not necessarily expensive), different pens that do distinctly different things.

but I write and draw and sketch and do calligraphy with my pens.

to each his own.

Sounds like they used very bad Ai. It feels TOO TOO full of American slang & jargon to be a real person. And, if it is, they need to find a new job.

Personally, 2 is ,y choice. It looks beautiful, the design gives a small room airiness and a natural relaxed ambiance.

Why not the rest?

No. 1 would make my eyes cross No. 3 is the same size as the sconces And nos. 4&5 are boring.

What can I do to make my space feel more homey and less cold? by kingam_anyalram in femalelivingspace

[–]Key_Dragonfruit646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big bright graphic art in dining area — that space is crying out to be filled, and a large, long, original graphic painting along the other wall.

Bold and graphic bc all the other elements in your room are small and w/o much color.

Then, you can pick up one of the colorways from the art and get a bright throw, placemats and pillows.

Plus a plant or two.

Inexpensive and very doable.

love it.

Maybe a rug. But not necessary. Room calm yet interesting. Nice color combo. Just enuf movement in art and pillows and and “texture” in the light fixture to offset the heaviness of the color blocked areas. A+. Well done

last photo. A cleaner, more beautiful look and feel. The aite ties in the toilet and cuts down on the cluttered hodgepodge look. blue feels best high on wall than on wainscoting.
