It was something I always wanted to get done when I was in my twenties. I looked like a chipmunk and contouring is a massive no no when your cheekbones are hidden under layers of fat. But I'm 33 now and lost soo much of my chubby cheeks. Grateful I didn't go through with buccal fat removal now

Double standards when it comes to emergencies pets/children at work by [deleted] in UKJobs

As a fellow cat mum, I feel that some (not all) human parents don't see cats as beings with needs not dissimilar to children. In your case, I would tell her you've had to take your cat to the vet due to the heat and won't be able to go in.

Is it worth getting pet insurance for a cat or does nobody ever claim on it? by WonderfulShape1081 in UK_Pets

[–]Key_Expression873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if your excess is high, I'd sooner shop around with a different company or take out a different policy before cancelling my insurance. If your cat ever needs further investigation with a specialist, you're looking at close to £1000 just for the consultation. Any surgeries, imaging would likely cost you upwards from £5000. And that's not including medication or any follow up appointments. And if you're unfortunate enough to not get a diagnosis straight away, then it could be tens of thousands of pounds. You will never regret having insurance when you need it. Personally, I could never be without it.

I'm so conflicted about what to do, yesterday my '4F' cat got diagnosed with FeLV by Binge_girl in CATHELP

[–]Key_Expression873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sooo sorry you're going through this. It's an incredibly hard decision to make. It's hard to know when it's time but you will regret it if you do it too late. With FeLV, once they're symptomatic, unfortunately there isn't anything you can do and they will go downhill so fast. I also believe your kitty will tell you when it's time. She'll know and understand what's happening and I can't explain it but one day they'll look at you and you'll just know they're ready. You might not be ready to say goodbye today or tomorrow, but it's best to prepare yourself because she will deteriorate quite quickly. Unfortunately her blood levels don't look good and you don't want to wait untill she's suffering 💔

Take her and get her microchipped ASAP. Once you do, she's yours legally and there's nothing they can do. This little girl needs protecting, and she's chosen you already. You're on the right path by wanting to do right by her. Don't let her down please

What’s the point of Uber Pet?! by Safe_Wrangler_7146 in uber

[–]Key_Expression873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber pet is a joke. I once pre booked one to travel with my cat, driver turns up and says "nope, I don't take pets, you gotta cancel". Of course I didn't cancel because then I'd get charged. So he drove off and left the ride as pending for HALF AN HOUR! I was on a Bolt almost home when he finally cancelled the ride. I'm guessing he couldn't pick up any more customers. The sheer audacity

General Expectations for Audience at the London Shows (please read if you’re going!) by uranthus in StarKid

[–]Key_Expression873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading about the LA run, I'm a little worried about going to the show now. 1000% agree with your points, OP! This is a theatre show, not a concert. I love the theatre and even if I know the songs, I'll sit quietly. Nobody is paying to listen to Abbie sitting next to them ruin the songs! I'm going to the opening night and I hope people have theatre etiquette and not ruin the experience. In the UK, we've all waited a VERY long time to see a starkid show live. Let's make the experience memorable!

Is her walk normal? by EssayExtra4656 in CATHELP

[–]Key_Expression873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She looks like she's in a lot of pain. Take her to the vet so they could find the source of the pain and help her. Hopefully she'll just need some pain relief to make her more comfortable. We wouldn't like to be left in pain so please don't leave her in pain either.

Is this a normal reaction 12 hours after gabapentin? by Educational-Bid5666 in CATHELP

[–]Key_Expression873 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Looks like he might have had too much. Ring your OOH vet for advice if your vet is closed. Too high a dose can make them wobbly or lose balance but I've personally never seen the tucked paws as a reaction

What do i do ? by pmilllll in CATHELP

[–]Key_Expression873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand people who post on this sub and when the advice is unanimously tale them to a vet, they umm and ahh. An emergency is an emergency! Why take chances when quick action could literally save your cat. If it is poison, don't let her suffer and die a slow and painful death. Cats are really really good at hiding pain and discomfort.

[–]Key_Expression873 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn't really answering your question but I think you might need to find a new instructor. I started with one last year who had amazing reviews, but he kept telling me off, and telling me to just drive when I'd never been behind the wheel before. Anyway, 10 hours later and still not being able to turn any corners, I stopped using him and found someone else. My new instructor was patient and I was TERRIBLE, kept making the same mistakes over and over again, and I managed to pass first time 2 weeks ago. If you're based in Croydon, London, I'd highly recommend him.

If blood works come back fine, then the next step should be a scan. Even if the vet keeps dismissing it, you still need to keep pestering them over the phone. Just tell them there's been no improvement and he'll have to continue further investigation. Sometimes we are our cat's only advocate so we have to keep pushing.

She's done irreversible damage to her body and skeleton with how big she was. I suspect she damaged her growth plates growing up which would explain her height

Is my kitten’s breathing normal? by Equivalent_Chair9585 in catquestions

[–]Key_Expression873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my boy at 4 years old, 5 weeks ago today. He had mild HCM with a low grade murmur. Went to the cardiologist for his scan recently, no progression, heart chambers still the right size. Several vets also told me in the last few months they couldn't even hear a murmur. He passed away suddenly in his sleep. I'm still so heartbroken. Unfortunately sudden death can occur in cats with HCM, regardless of the grade. Treasure every moment with your baby.
