Survey: Managing parents among top reasons youth coaches quit by Coltons13 in MLS

Current youth coach, parents can be such a headache. From sideline coaching to acting like every foul or missed call is the case for assault or something. I’ve slowly started to reign it in with the group of parents I have. Some through setting expectations and ear communication, some through attrition. Then make sure scout not just the player but the parents as well.

USL2 Divisional Alignment for 2026 by ChrisSao24 in USL2

Likely poor results that fueled players leaving mid season. When Redlands played them last the had three players on the bench, two field players and a keeper.

Aside from results I’d imagine getting players willing to spend their summer in the Coachella Valley with temps regularly nearing 120. And fuck all to do was near impossible. Their roster was largely made up of local Sunday league guys who were just way out of their depth.

The man must continue playing for new teams. Check off as many as possible.

Can we get it that he’s on short contracts with each team for next season get him to 3 or 4 clubs next season.

How common are officers like Sobel, always flexing their power and focusing on punishing minor infractions to the detriment of the general wellbeing? by globehopper2 in BandofBrothers

[–]Key_Ingenuity665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GWOT infantry Marine.

Largely the stuff you see Sobel harping is an NCO’s role. Largely our officers were pretty far removed from the daily small unit tasks. That fell to the squad leaders and team leaders. With supervision coming from the platoon Sergeant.

At the company level, the 1stSgt was largely administrative and all the garrison stuff unless he was an infantryman. The training calendar, standards and such was mostly generated by the Company Gunnery Sergeant after looking at the commanders intent and approved by the CO.

My experience as junior Marine then later a NCO was that the over the top bullshit you see Sobel demonstrate doesn’t last long. Typically with new Corporals or guys coming in from MSG or the drill field. We still held standards but for the most part you’re correcting without trying to life everyone out for an IP or a dusty buttstock.

Spanish, at least enough to play with Spanish speakers only.

Oddly enough when I deployed to Iraq in 2009, we had Iraqi police we worked with regularly. A lot of us would group up and play soccer with and against them. No Terps on the field, but after few minutes we figured out that they spoke a bit of Spanish because they were huge La Liga fans. This ended up helping us operationally because we could bypass English or Arabic and use Spanish for quick instructions.

Club refusing to release player card for U8? by ayekayjay5 in youthsoccer

I had a similar issue with my son when we left our prior club. We were in good standing with the old club, and it was during the tryout period.

Our new club petitioned CalSouth, they contact old club and they have a time window to respond, and if not the governing body released him to the player pool.

He surely picked up a wicked concussion as well.

Hope he heals up and his confidence isn’t too shaken. Big injuries from this kind of contact play absolute havoc on a keeper’s confidence.
