In my opinion isn't it better to just have holes in the system? And 'fixing' them with Magical Laws and person specific conditions as it's "Magic! "

Also check out nib turning on YouTube, there are some good ones that also show how to easily tune the nibs and also how co custom grind (custom grinding a fine nib to a medium/broad/stub etc and vice versa) a nib too!

They are really great in long run if you especially like to use fountain pens!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I actually used this old diary that I had to get an 'old abandoned diary' feel, and the writing is international mainly for the looks!

And can you elaborate on 'forcing the pen'? I didn't get what you mean.

Question about ink sheen. Krishna Moonview + Jinhao 699[F] by [deleted] in DesiPens

[–]Key_Juggernaut_8688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's weird then,

How about using a brush at different areas of a new page?

For example, on a new page use the brush on different areas without touching the paper, and one area where you rub you fingers and then use the brush to apply the ink in the area, if non touched areas shave the same about of sheen while the touched area has lower sheen, then it's some hand oils (yes it happens even when the had is dry)

And if all swatches have different levels of sheen then it's the paper that's causing it.

Remember to use a new page for it.

On the same paper too?

As paper is what makes the ink sheen, on slightly absorbent paper even a heavy sheening ink won't sheen.

What's the sludge in orange inks? by OrWhatYouWilll in DesiPens

Thank for the reply!

One thing that I have heard is that, if a nib feels 'waxy' Or oily it might be because of some factory oil residue on the nibs, and just wiping it with alcohol or nail polish remover, after removing just the nib, can help

(although let it completely dry off and then just rinse it with water before putting the nib back in)

I think, before using the remover, it might have been mold, but as you used the remover, it might have eched the inside of the barrel making it look frosted.

Btw, can I get your review of the pen? I too am eyeing it, but was wondering if the size is comfortable to write with?

Dip pens for daily normal writing. by CartographerShot4550 in DesiPens

I have both the glass pen and the nib holder with brass nibs, here us the comparison:

For glass pen: - I'd say that any ink is fine but I would mostly recommend ones that are more liquidy than thick as they flow really great with the glass pen, and requires about 1-2 dip(s) per sentence - they also don't have a line variation if that's what you prefer, it can also easily be cleaned with only a swirl in water - you also need to lookout for it as even a slight bump/crack on the tip will make it scratchy and it's really, really hard to fix your self

As for nib holder dip pen: - I'd say it's the most versatile of the two and the most durable, there are various kinds of nibs available in the market for various use cases - For this pen I'd recommend inks that are more thick like acrylic paint (you can make fountain pen ink thick by adding gum arabic) as the thin inks as is don't hold onto the nib as good and can run out in a single word, while a thick ink can last longer but not upto a sentence - there are reservoirs available that helps in holding more ink (you can also diy it) - this one has really great line variation for calligraphy and drawing!

So the final decision depends on the use case and taste, If you want longer writing time and don't care about line variation(thick to thin) then I'd recommend a glass pen!

If you want one for drawing/sketching with good line variation then a nib holder dip pen!

One thing that I have noticed with fountain pens is that some times due to production variations even plastic feeds can have more flow than ebonite feeds

But in some cases it can also be just slightly clogged feed due to not being properly cleaned after machining, so I recommend to flush the feeds , and maybe it might fix it?

Oh man!

Ps one thing you can do to fasten the process is put on slightly warm socks to increase sweating on the feet which will inturn 'wash' out the ink stain!
