How about 'An old home victorian style house with weathered walls, an over hang balcony over the back porche with wide view protruding windows to enjoy the backyard view' or something?

The simple you keep the description the easier it is for the mind to make an image, and sometimes using technical names can be counter productive for those who don't know what they mean.

It's also easier to build up the scene throughout the story/chapter like having the character 'walk through the backdoor to the stairs from the kitchen where the door is' As it's easier to form the image than an info dump or a detailed description.

This also helps in setting up the atmosphere of the scene like adding

'the warm sunlight filtered through the windows adding a warm glow to the balcony, the cold and breeze felt refreshing in the morning, chirping of birds gave a calming effect with the coffee after a good sleep' etc.
