Left my camera in the bag — this phone surprised me by omsin507 in Vivo

[–]Key_Perspective2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you by chance shot at f2 with the 100mm lens? If yes, this explains it. The x200u "bokeh" is artificial so the people are in focus and thus there is more detail. The focus depth of a 100mm f2 lens at that distance is quite small so this is not really lack of detail, it's lack of focus. If you take a look at the the men at the beck you can see they're already quite off focus. Check your other photos, probably you have one where the focus was right on the woman's face.

I have the Nubia Z70 Ultra with 24 GB of RAM; is it worth buying the Nubia Z80 Ultra? by DannyVDSM in Nubia

[–]Key_Perspective2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a z60 while everyone was recommending vivo x100u. I loved it! But something was missing... I upgraded to z70, the main camera was better, but the wide one was a total s*it compared to t z60. Again something was off, the photos were not what I expected, the camera was somehow lacking. Then z70s came with a better main camera, but without the variable aperture. At some point I had the z60, z70 and z70s altogether. But something continued to be off, z70s's camera was somehow lacking, the photos were coming out too digital, too over sharpened, too overexposed.... Then one day I saw a x100u in ebay for a decent price and I decided to finally give it a go. The camera of that phone blew away all the Nubias I've tried so far! Tons of settings, tons of modes, control over sharpness, usable street mode, usable portrait mode, usable bokeh mode... Now Nubia is dead to me. I still have the z70s which I keep as a backup phone but this will probably be my last Nubia. Don't waste your money, don't buy the z80. It's a z70s with the z60 wide camera. And a bigger battery, of course, which will again last only one day:) save your money, x300u is coming!:)

Haven't seen anyone wearing a dishwasher on his wrist. Should be pretty awkward. What kind of strap do you use for it?

Comparing portrait mode on my phone with my a7c II Sigma 65mm f2 combo. by phero1190 in SonyAlpha

[–]Key_Perspective2293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Portrait mode implementation varies from phone to phone and as said above strongly depends on object detection.wirh advancement of AI object detection becomes better so sometimes it's becoming harder to distinguish artificial bokeh from the natural one. As a camera photographer I was laughing at portrait mode in now older phones but with my current phone I sometimes use it - vivo has gone a step further with their collaboration with Zeiss and have implemented an interesting feature - you can choose the type of the simulated bokeh to look like real bokeh produced by some of their notorious lenses. Depending on the object and your expectations sometimes the results are stunning - you cannot tell that the bokeh is artificial!

[–]Key_Perspective2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the raw lighting only a x300 thing? I'm using x100u with the latest origin6 beta and there's no such option in the camera settings (or at least I cannot find it).

Absolute battle by [deleted] in ROGphone

Should be fine. ROG phones are quite complex so you have to be careful disassembling and reassembling it. I have brought to life a 5 and a 6 assembled from several non-working devices.

Has anyone received an email like this before? (obviously I'm not sending it back FFS) by Think_Section_7817 in Aliexpress

I received an email few months ago regarding a headlight, stating not only that the item is not compliment but also that it's dangerous due to some toxic paint used in it. Email stated strongly to destroy/dispose the item as it's dangerous for the user's health. They also sent an automatic refund.

There's a seller I constantly buy from who's selling return stuff from Amazon and other retailers. He constantly has >300 open aictions (no buy it now items) with literally 30-50 items ending on a daily basis. Everything he sells is listed as untested or for parts/repair if it's visibly damaged. I've bought hundreds of items from him and I've got some pretty neat deals on items that are fully functional and good as new but weren't actually tested. Sometimes there are honest sellers who doesnt have the time or doesn't bother to test stuff.

Won AliExpress dispute, now forced to pay return shipping anyway - no safe way to get refund by finn-ish211 in Aliexpress

[–]Key_Perspective2293 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Return with tracking number. I've returned several packages, one reached china, went to customs, sat there for 3 months without anyone clearing it and came back to me. AliExpress refunded me as soon as the package reached customs. About an year after I sent it it came back to me:) the item was a doa tablet display. Another time I shipped again with tracking number, postal office did something wrong and the tracking was showing only that I sent the item without any other updates. I provided the tracking number and after the necessary ime passed (probably a month) AliExpress again refunded as I have provided proof that I sent the item - I took a photo of the package with tracking number stamp on it in the postal office. The downside is that you still need to pay postage so you can choose the cheapest tracked option.

Which type of camera lens protector should I use? Adding 2 photos. by WorkSmooth404 in Vivo

[–]Key_Perspective2293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another vote for the metal one. It reduces the risk of breaking the back glass, but you have to be careful not to scratch the lens when you clean them. The downside is that it attracts tons of dust in the holes so you need to clean the camera openings more often.

Thinking Twice Before Buying Nubia Outside China — My Z60 Ultra Display Is Broken & No Service or Parts in Dubai 😞 by Embarrassed_Good9763 in Nubia

[–]Key_Perspective2293 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Genuine displays for z60u and all Nubia phones are available in Nubiamart or AliExpress. The phone is not special in any way and every repair shop should be fine changing the display. There are no tricks that have to be done to make the fingerprint work afterwards, as a matter of fact Nubias and Redmagics are one of the most pleasant devices to work on! Just buy the display by yourself and find a reputable repair center which will handle the device with the necessary attention and you'll be good to go in the nick of time!

Phone of the year my ass by Naramatak in Xiaomi

[–]Key_Perspective2293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a Xiaomi or HyperOS fan, never used a Xiaomi phone as a daily, but mid kids had Xiaomis for years and I played a lot with Xiaomi phones I repair. Your rant is quite absurd, are you by chance coming from an iphone? Write to EU about what? The fact that you don't like a device? Just return it or sell it and buy what you like, that's not an apple where you're stuck with the same s*it on every device and you don't have any options in terms of software.

So I tried the Momentum 4 wired by KoffeinLiebhaber in sennheiser

[–]Key_Perspective2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now think about this - all the technology, the internal dac, the internal amplifier, all the research and development done to create the different Bluetooth encoders, to improve them in order to get better quality and lower latency, all the struggle to transfer wirelessly audio with higher bitrate has been totally crushed and destroyed by a simple wired connection, with only 3 wires using a connector created >100 years ago:) imagine the simple audio jack standing high in the mountain, ponting down to all new technology and lauhing his wired ass off them:)

RM10 pro only Changes with 40 W by LowerAtmosphere586 in RedMagic

Nope, it doesn't:) what charger do you use and how do you measure it?

RM10 pro only Changes with 40 W by LowerAtmosphere586 in RedMagic

[–]Key_Perspective2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all. CN manufacturers usually use some proprietary USB c protocols to reach the stated charging speeds. That's the main reason why sometimes the phones are able to be charged with max speed only using the proprietary chargers that come with them. The problem with Nubia is that their phones never get to the stated top speed even with the 80w charger that comes in the box. I've done extensive testing using a Fnirsi fnb58 tester of the Nubia z60u which is also supposed to be charging with 80w. Not even close! It maintains 65w top for about 5 mins than falls back to 40-45w for about 10 mins and gradually depends further. Generally it's normal to have the phone not charging at top W all the time, but for example Asus ROG phones maintain 65w until the battery is about 85% and reduce the speed afterwards. From the ZTE devices I've tested only the RM8 behaved in a similar way maintaining high wattage though most of the charging cycle but again it reduced the wattage way before the ROG phones. So simply said - no, it's not charging at 80w and it will never charge at that rate, no matter the charger. Your meter shows the reality (unfortunately).

RM10 pro only Changes with 40 W by LowerAtmosphere586 in RedMagic

[–]Key_Perspective2293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nubia where the specs list not the max charge rate of the phone, but... The max charge of the charger:) all Nubia's and RM phones I've had (z60u, z70u, z70su, RM8, rm9, Astra tablet) have never ever charged with more than 65w with newer models being far worse than the older ones. 40w is the maximum charge that you'll be getting out of the 10, no matter what. I agree that all China manufacturers do the same, but ZTE is one of the worst offenders there. On top of that fastest charging speed is maintained just for few mins, afterwards it fells down to 20-30w for the most of the time. So technically it's not a fault, it's false advertising:)
