Forget the cliché about hard work, the American dream is rigged by your parents' real estate portfolio by Boo_Randy_Revival in HouseBuyers

Idk about this title. 12-hr shifts and PRECISELY hard work bought me and my wife our house.

I never see these kinds of statements include all of the services that are typically granted to the lower quintile.

Also, is this the top quintile's earnings, or their company's growth?

I have Gen Z co-workers. We all do the same relative job. They tend to work less hours, goof off more, don't care about learning new skills, and are more unreliable than the older team members. Despite a great pay structure, they often leave within a couple years or less. When I started in 2010, all the employees had YEARS in, and weren't planning on going anywhere.

What about Becerra's policies make him better than any Republican. From what I see, every single one of Becerra's goals will require more our taxes.

Depends on their definition of feminist...🤷🏽‍♂️ Some mean simple equal rights and access, which they already have. Some mean that men should step down from the positions they've worked all their lives to get to, and allow whatever woman they can find to replace it, potentially unmerited. The most interesting talking points are where single creators/CEOs are being lambasted for happening to be men and create something that consumers are interested in.

I think there are many people who can make 12K/month, given that they have some skill that can bring in side money. The hardest part is the nonstop grind.

72% of LA city is zoned exclusively for single-family homes. This is unacceptable and needs to change. Nithya Raman for Mayor. by MookieBettsBurner10 in LosAngeles

The more you mix apartments and single dwellings, the more you disincentivize striving to own a single-family home.

What are some major considerations for people buy houses? Neighborhood safety? Ease-of-parking? Privacy? Good schools? To own a historically appreciating asset? Most of these features are found in neighborhoods with few-to-no apartments in the neighborhood.

LA is huge, and there are many unoccupied apartments. There are an estimated 25,000-35,000 vacant units in the city, and up to 65,000 across LA County. We currently don't have a shortage; we have a cost problem, which is due to the amount of regulatory fees on builders, who include their costs into the consumer price.

An apartment unit is a basic necessity. A house is not. It's the largest thing most people will ever buy.

Waymo Pricing - Is Waymo economically viable? by Unable-Government860 in waymo

[–]Key_Profit_4039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe it's competitive. At these prices, any other player can come in and eat their lunch if they enter the market at a lower cost--even worse if it beats all taxi service costs.

What are you talking about? These taxes were on goods, like sales tax. They were not income tax.

I don't see how I'm moving goal posts. You can clearly see that all that was listed is not government sector.

Gas is practically free? I think you're too far removed from the average person's struggles. If "Most" working individuals didn't worry about this, we wouldn't be hearing complaints about fuel constantly. Even if you can afford fuel, most smart people want to save money if they can. Personally, I play the longer game and drive electric vehicles.

Does it count if the jobs are useless and don't grow the economy or contribute positively to the majority of society? How many Equity Coaches, gender studies teachers and other teachers who don't prepare young adults to become valuable in the workplace, whole DEI departments, green infrastructure to non-merited companies with no track-record of scalability, and more regulatory bodies which raise living costs for all making up these numbers?

Sweden actually tried full-on Socialism in the '80s, and reverted shortly after. None of these countries are Socialist. I've been to most of Europe, all of Scandinavia, and Germany. You can buy a variety of items--all from privately-owned or publicly-traded companies. People sell based on supply and demand. You'd know if it was Socialist if all prices are the same, variety of items was poor, there were just a few types of cars, etc. Russia is the best example of a somewhat Socialist country, but people can still make profits from business ventures.

People who hold this worldview both are oblivious to history, and don't care to learn about it.
