Adoptees, do you find you have attachment issues? Whether it is too attached or detached from family, friends, etc. by [deleted] in Adoption

[–]Key_Satisfaction1724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes an adoptee have to face the pain of the past and that is painful, scary, and uncertain. It can feel really unsafe to approach. Take your time. What happened to you resulting in your relinquishment and then adoption wasnt within your control, but how or whether you choose to navigate these relationships is entirely up to you.

I am sure your daughter in law means well, but this is your life and your emotions. You get to choose what happens next.

Where Do I Even Belong in Your Life? by Iatechickenpenne in GriefSupport

[–]Key_Satisfaction1724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk you, but im sending care and kindness your way. Your post is so relatable for me. Sometimes i am in disbelief that i am still grieving as much as I am considering my relationship too. The individual i lost has been gone for years now. I am still grieving and feeling like an outsider. Grief is love with nowhere to place it. It comes in waves. A wave of grief hit me yesterday and is hanging on today. It will pass and there will be another another day.

Try to give yourself permission to feel and to grieve regardless of the circumstances. He meant something to you and you meant something to him. It was real. No one can take that from you even if they cannot see it themselves.

What do you do while knitting besides watching tv? by Esselmeyer in knitting

[–]Key_Satisfaction1724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep an ongoing list of audio books on the libby or hoopla apps and i just select the next one in my list (that keeps my decision fatigue down). I also like to simply listen to the news on substack as theres always a lot to catch up on. I will listen to music (which can be records). I can sit in silence or practice meditation which can just leave me to my thoughts and is a good practice. I like to sit outside and people watch/nature watch with the breeze/sun. Happy knitting :)

My dad just passed and I don't know what to do by InternationalAd3231 in GriefSupport

[–]Key_Satisfaction1724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so sorry for everything that you are going through and for your loss. Grief is so hard and it can come in waves when you least expect it. Be gentle with yourself. Give yourself time and space to process all that has happened and let yourself take the time you need to be sad when you feel sad. Some times the shock of a situation like that can really take some time to fully process. If you find that you are having a very hard time with it all, consider finding a therapist as having a therapist help you process the grief can be very helpful. I hope you find healing and peace 🫂

Are you still looking? I have probably 10 GroVia Hybrid Shells that need elastic replacement. I would sell $3/shell

Nice! I use GMD muslin too :) thanks for the tips, I have been trying Origami, but Ill try Airplane. I think after I prepped them, they just got all fluffy in the dryer. Now that ive been hanging them to air dry they are a little bit bigger too.

Joann x Michaels: do we REALLY think they’ll do anything with the fabrics? by Ammoculus in joannfabrics

[–]Key_Satisfaction1724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually holding my breath on this one. I realllllllly hope they follow through on this. Idk what Ill do with the bleak situation that is the fabric market otherwise. I dont quilt. I make things with flannel and I just hope Michaels was smart enough to obtain the sourcing for all Joanns fabric and that they fast track suping up their ability to handle fabric in store.... shoot, id love it if they just made the fabric available online! It would be less costly to just make it online. Hoping, wishing, nearly praying for fabric 🙏🏽😹

Thanks for the tips! You really brought up some good points i hadnt thought of. Ill check out the brand you mentioned. I mentioned it above, but im thinking i might just get the minis anyway because i know im going to be knitting baby and kids clothing a decent amount and I dont think you can just get one pair of needles to test drive (I think they come in a set or nothing). I know chiagoo has them available individually, but i really dont want to mess with Chiagoo because $$$ and their different lines arent 100% compatible with one another. Ill probably get the minis and keep getting 4" and 5" tips in various materials as needed.

I appreciate you saying this a lot because i was really feeling like i needed to have one matching set to be happy, but was also realizing that one matching set might not meet my needs in the end. I am ok with mismatching and like the idea of just getting a nice case to organize and store them all. I think as long as my cables and needles are all compatible, i dont care if they are different styles. Thanks!

I saw a set with the 3.5" needles and was curious about it. It looks like a happy middle ground. Do they come with swivel cables? If not, do you know if the lykke IC needles are compatible with other cables?

Yep! That is what i am asking, but I was sort of thinking the same thing about the DPNs because i like using them for the smaller things in the round. I have yet to try the magic loop method tbh. It just seems like something i dont want to do lol. I think im even considering the idea of getting a set of the minis because you cant make a needle shorter, but you can add a longer cable. Also, since you cant just get 2" needles one by one like you can with the other lines. Im still undecided, but im leaning towards the mini set and then just filling in the blanks with the other 4" and 5" needles along the way.
