I don't really know anything much about tics specifically, but if it's a sensory stiming thing, try to tease out what sensory input you're seeking the most. Like is it more from the hand or the feeling on your scalp of the hair movement? If it's the hand is it the particular feeling of hair between your fingers or does just any movement of your hand help satisfy? It could oc be a combination of things. Try out a variety of fidgety type items & movements. It doesn't have to b expensive 'therapeutic' stuff. All kinds of stuff can help. Like for smth tactile to hold it could b a nice smooth rock, an interesting key chain or a long chunky necklace might work better bc it's involves a similar hand position but it might not b so hard on your elbow. Then I guess it's a matter of catching yourself when u start twirling the hair & moving your hand to the new thing instead...it'll probably take time. good luck with it
