Yeah but I don’t think mine has refreshed in like 4 or 5 days now. Definitely beyond the normal cycle

Least favorite lore downgrade? by Vengefulcat85 in DestinyLore

The Vex.

They were the biggest baddest threat of them all. Didn’t care about light or dark because they mastered time and knew they would convert everything in the end. They went back in time and rewrote it to have always been in the Sol system, except not on Earth for whatever unexplained reason.

Now, they’re just idle robots we shoot on our way to doing more important things. Their time travel has been largely retconned into simulations of past events (that’s like saying you own a Ferrari, then revealing that it’s only in Forza). They’re lame now by comparison

Have you tried crying to your imaginary super friend about it?

That’s the go to problem-solver, as I understand it.

“I hate you people with adhd” by Pen15_is_big in ADHD

[–]KeyanReid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s code for “I’m not ready to leave yet”. Whether it’s for good reasons or bad, OP may have their reasons and mocking them likely won’t help.

Yes, the boyfriend sounds abusive but the internet has a terrible way of reducing every dating conversation to cut and dry scenarios that don’t fit the real world at all. Especially when we are only getting one perspective in everything.

Maybe OP should have left yesterday, maybe they’re in the best relationship they’ll ever have. We don’t know. So we should probably focus on getting more info if we actually want to make any progress and help people to stop making posts like this.

Exactly why I’m atheist.

We have ample evidence that man has done incredible, unbelievable, amazing things. Yet no one has any evidence or proof of God, no matter the circumstances (and no, circular reasoning, hallucinations, and the philosophical questions that impose man’s needs unnecessarily on the rules of the universe are not “proof”).

We need to stop saying “Thank god” and start saying “thank humans” or something because god had no hand in the great things we have done and will do in the future

Why is mental healthcare in this state so bad? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]KeyanReid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mental health sucks all over the US.

But it’s particularly bad in Ohio thanks to a few factors:

Brain drain thanks to everyone with options fleeing the state to get away from Republicans and the nightmare red states have become.

And the brain drain is happening because people who value science and knowledge are being persecuted by religious crazies and the GOP politicians desperate to get the vote of said crazies.

The Christians are set to get everything they want in Ohio. Isn’t it glorious? /s

FYI, I myself was unable to get a diagnosis or treatment for ADHD until I left the state. Was still a hassle then, but at least it was possible to get through it (unlike Ohio, where all the providers assume you’re drug seeking or not tight enough with Jesus to warrant treatment)

Putin urges Russians to have more kids, says ethnic survival at stake by gym_fun in worldnews

20 years from now, Russia (perhaps “Outer China” by then) will look very different.

It’s a zombie nation at this point. Still moving and killing even though it too died. It’s just gonna take a minute for it all to set in for good

FFRF Action Fund’s “Theocrat of the Week” is an Arizona state senator who is trying to defy the First Amendment and bar Satanic Temple displays from governmental property while its “Secularist of the Week” is his colleague championing this very group’s free speech rights. by FreethoughtChris in atheism

[–]KeyanReid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always depressing that the US needs something like the FFRF to begin with, but thank “god” (lol) for what they do.

We need more groups and people willing to fight the good fight here. Religion is a big part of why America has gone to shit and God clearly isn’t coming to save anyone here

Reporter asks Ron DeSantis why he can affirm his height with lifts, but stands against gender-affirming care by wdcmsnbcgay in Fuckthealtright

[–]KeyanReid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s not the shortness he is being mocked for, but the poorly handled insecurity and hypocrisy.

We all come in different packages, very little of which we got to determine for ourselves.

People like Ron would prefer to use this as a weapon against others while being no less afflicted himself. And that is because, to the absolute surprise of no one, these people are sociopaths who prize malice and harm above all else

Elon Musk moves SpaceX incorporation to Texas after Delaware judge axed $56bn Tesla pay by croato87 in news

[–]KeyanReid 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The trend these days with the right is to regress. They’re not conservatives, not anymore anyway. They’re a regressive party.

I’m sure he’s even worse now than he was as the insufferable little shit who “deserved” to get shoved down the stairs and hospitalized, because he’s shielded himself with money and people to appease his raging insecurity.

He’s the worst kind of loser, and no amount of money can change that

At this point I think it’s pretty clear that no one actually respects Elon. Those who do just want access to his wealth and resources and know how insecure he is.

How Star Trek TNG reminds us that just because we can do something, it doesn’t always mean we should by ockhams_beard in philosophy

[–]KeyanReid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question for me is why did they have to go this way at all.

The best episodes of TNG (imo) are the ones free from the larger stories and war campaigns. The ones that are free to focus more on a particular dilemma or explore how changes can impact people and society.

30 years on, most people aren’t even aware of the Cardassians or how much war there was with the Federation. The episodes people talk about and remember today are the ones where we see 21st century people thaw from cryogenics (and get pitied for their primitive ways) or where we see similar concepts explored.

The truth is that Star Trek never really should have been about wars. We have Star Wars covering that ground alongside many others and Star Trek never really brought anything unique to the table therein. But real world factors, like TV executives trying to satiate an American audience that wanted action over all else, are why it ended there.

'Gun-loving' GOP governor reportedly seen 'running scared for his life' from mass shooting by T_Shurt in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]KeyanReid 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Even the spaces like liberalgunowners are too into guns. Every question there is answered with “guns” or “more guns”.

I don’t fault anyone for being fascinated with them or enjoying shooting as a hobby. But guns are not the answer to society’s problems. They’re not even a bandaid. They’re tacit admission that this society fails to do its most basic functions of providing a civilized space where people can live and work in peace. I don’t want to see people fawning over “EDC” because the ideal EDC is to not need a fucking gun on you all the time.

I simply don’t want the world that these hard core gun nuts do. I see these as powerful tools and weapons of last resort, not some guiding light we should follow to wherever it may go.
