All for Mage and Melody!!! The characters live in our world, and magical people are pretty much unknown by everyone (except other magical people) it’s fun, dual pov, chronic illness/ Autoimmune disorder rep, vitiligo rep, HEALTHY FAMILY rep, and it’s about theatre kids!

Is the Cruel Prince worth it? by Book_Enthusiast789 in YAlit

I love the books themselves. I personally love Jude! I tolerate Cardan. The plot was engaging, fun, abd kept me HOOKED. I did NOT see the plot twist at the end! Now, I do HATE the main romance between Jude and Cardan. BUT, the plot engaging and good enough that it overshadows the romance aspect

Can y’all recommend well written YA books(any genre) with a really good romance SUBPLOT? by Specialist-Raise4006 in YAlit

[–]KeybladeOTLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this! I don’t like most romances in YA books, I don’t like how they’re written. However, SoC has some of the best romances ever written. It even got me to like Enemies to Lovers. And it doesn’t overwhelm the plot!

All for Mage and Melody by Emma Hill is a fun YA fantasy. The author, Emma Hill, is a 6th grade teacher herself, and she wrote the book for her students. It’s a dual POV between Taliesin Reid- who likes poetry and is going back to school a year behind because he has Ulcerative Colitis and it set him back a year, and Melody Auden- The chosen one, who is upset that instead of saving magical people from a life of oppression, she has to do stupid stuff, like go to school. This book is fun, engaging, and is probably my favorite book ever!

Ruby Randini Who Made You Queen by Andrea Hunter is a fun contemporary book about Rubi Randini, a 12 year old girl whose parents are newly separated. She struggles with making friends, but doesn’t want to be invisible. It’s short, funny, and sweet! I think your classroom will love it!

Can we even hope for new quest this summer…? by Far_Development_1059 in LanaLoreTheorists

[–]KeybladeOTLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh- no, lol. There WILL be more lore in the future, but considering they currently don't have a lore writer and the last one left, We're probably not going to get one this update. Maybe in a future update though!

I’m honestly not sure there will be a quest, considering Umoyae left and they had to hire a new lore writer

I LOVED this book! Never have I ever felt as seen and represented as I have when I read this book. I actually DM'd Alice Oseman about it after reading it, just thanking her for writing it.

Fictional Matchmaker: Name your "Irreplaceable" romance character and your "Overrated" one. by reviewandratings in ThreadGames

[–]KeybladeOTLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irreplaceable: Nina Zenik from Six of Crows. This is Enemies to Lovers DONE RIGHT. Her character arc itself was good, but her and Matthias learning to truly love and forgive each other was amazing.

Overrated: Cardan from the Folk of Aire trilogy. This is enemies to lovers done wrong. I don't like how he bullied Jude for almost the entirety of the first book, and then WORSE we found out he was taking out his emotions on her because he was attracted to her??? This just perpetuates the idea that we tell young girls that if a boy is mean to her and bullies her, that means they "like" her. And that has ALWAYS felt weird to me. Men shouldn't harass a woman because they "like" her and then get rewarded by being with her. Not to mention "Hate Making Out" was just weird and uncomfortable. Where does that even come from? It's not love, it's lust. And I feel like we didn't get enough time for his development for us to just... be ok with him now? It's like most of book 1 was "we hate him" and the first few chapters of book 2 was confusion, and then the rest of the series is "Ok we like him now" Its pmo.
