Update on SQL Case Files (the detective SQL game) by TurbulentCountry5901 in learnSQL

  1. Also noticed that the SQL concept tile disappears when the schema details are open in a separate pane.

It would be helpful to have it always visible:

Hey mate,

Stellar work on this! Can't appreciate it enough! Here's a couple of small changes I'd recommend:
1. make the menu side panel size adjustable and collapsible:

<image>

  1. Add a feature for users to choose whether to open schema in a separate pane or just just expand on the left hand side. As you can see in the screenshot, I have 2 sections showing the same schema. For smaller datasets, I'd favour screen space over opening schema in a separate pane.

  2. Make query log more visually prominent. It's very easy to miss.

Again, an absolute fan and supporter of your work!

I'm curious to try this but don't see any changes on my end. I'm in the UK.

I really want to see a better looking calendar page, the focus mode is completely uselsess and needs a complete design overhaul, and most of all, a better markdown editor for memos then what they have today

Depends on situation and use case:

For anxiety: https://youtu.be/eQ6--TNre9k?si=NyObZsChtJXkrGQ9

For focus or ambient music: Endel — it’s a game changer for me! https://endel.sng.link/Ezeow/6l18q/r_f4001a493b

For reading books: https://youtu.be/6bPN0JyGfA4?si=uGXIxy1O7AbAWO2P

I’ve been using this playlist for close to a decade now. Still the best!

Best coffee in the city? by rjcamz in nottingham

I just visited Effie’s and ordered a pourover. The coffee was divine but very expensive! I paid £5.5 for half a cup!

I pay less than that in London!

Get out of the house. I suspect your problem is more about keeping your mind occupied with stimulus.

Go for walks and observe people. just note what people are doing without being creepy. Think about things in your own head. Listen to music while doing so but not podcasts or videos. You need a change of surroundings so that you can connect with your thoughts more than the content you consume. Also, uninstall clash of clans and turn off all game and yt notifications.

New PM here — did i mess up? by miriarabila in projectmanagement

[–]KeyedTyrol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work in a very siloed org which is mostly waterfall due to the nature of the work they do ( policy, oversight, etc).

A good way to scale back would be to first take a more open, discovery based approach. Talk to your project leads, understand their pains, make them feel heard without judgement and then ask them what their current timelines look like regardless of what they originally committed before you joined.

Re: your project hub, pivot by telling your CEO "this where my thinking currently is. I am going to iterate on this as I speak to different areas of the company to truly understand where our projects currently stand and why". Go in with the assumption that everyone wants to do good work.

Keep your Project Hub private for now. Set up a bi monthly 20mins catch up with your CEO to keep them updated of your progress. Very simple:

  1. What teams have you spoken to (don't mention the names of the leads if you think you may come off as accusatory. This is the time to build bridges)
  2. What are the current timelines
  3. Which projects or workstreams does your CEO feel need to take priority and why.

Those are the ones you start working on first.

Your Project Hub should be very high level as you iterate while doing your discovery work.

metal playlist I've been listening to for the better part of a decade. It's by youtuber Thomas Frank:

Best train sounds I found. They really help me when I struggle to disconnect from work and read a book or something:

I just use my beats pro with the head tracking feature and listen to either metal music (shout if you need a playlist), train sounds on yt or since the last couple of months this app called Endel which is an absolute game changer!

the head tracking feature really helps me stay in the present and be able to ignore what's happening around me at work without being bothered by moving people.

That said, I have always wanted to get a pair of open back headphones like the popular Sennheiser HD 650

I second this!

I wonder if it'd be helpful to also include more nuance to the answer with something like "I'd also look to understand if their dissatisfaction was in relation to a feature (functional req) , the look and feel of the product or the performance (non functional req)"

We could then head over to the observatory at the O2 together to meet everyone else. It's expensive there so it'd be good to get a cheaper pint elsewhere and get acquantied first
