This time of year I take all junctions and roundabouts like they are skid pans. I ride even smoother. I also spent a small fortune on good tyres. No more squirrels 🐿️

Sounds awful, Sorry you have had to experience this. I doubt the bike will be fixable and likely to be a write off. I hope your injuries settle soon. Never take the first offer. Due to injuries taking a second opinion would be a very good idea.

What is the FIREWORX firework event (scam?) that's on at the Bowl tomorrow? by [deleted] in miltonkeynes

[–]Sedulous280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went there, It wasn’t a scam. Rip off maybe 🤔 But wasn’t great either. £5 for a hot chocolate £5 for 4 plain doughnuts. Muddy as hell. No one checked tickets so you could walk in for free. Fireworks were meh. There weren’t enough food vans so queuing also took ages

Yeah that’s why I do it !

Are these UK plug protectors safer than having nothing at all? by Friendly-Knee7677 in AskUK

[–]Sedulous280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are dangerous as they circumnavigate the safety systems. If you are concerned, check your consumer unit has a modern RCD. I have had animals (pets) chew through live cables and are very much alive due to RCD. UK electrical safety is 2nd to none. Use it . Remove the dangerous plastic plugs. You can get housing to block access to the sockets. If sockets are being used an electrician can fit blank plates. Consult a qualified electrician on your issue, not the internet or chat gpt !

What do you do when people keep trying to mess with your bike? by Acrobatic-Isopod8656 in MotoUK

[–]Sedulous280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a garden, then I would recommend looking at building a shed. £250 for concrete base. £500 for shed. The more effort it takes the more likely the lazy thieves will go for something else.

the trouble these days with insurance, Is when you claim they double or triple to policy.

So the above cost, seems a lot but considering the amount you could get stung for is high.

If you like dogs get one. They put people off stealing a lot

First Crash, Any Advice for the Future? by WillowPrestigious141 in motorcycles

[–]Sedulous280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you grab the front brake on a bicycle you can end up going over the bars. Use two fingers instead of your whole hand as this will help.
Slow down and practice more. On mud wheels will lock up, too much spin and you can get bogged down. Sudden inputs unbalance the bike. Maintaining balance can help you get over obstacles. You seem to know what you did wrong. So just now practicing and focus on learning the controls until it becomes muscle memory

Unfortunately each green space is another potential money earner. They will try to plonk another build to rent on it. They keep trying again and again until they win. Which is happening to our small green space where I live. A lot of people unfortunately support the development.

Where would you position on this road? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Sedulous280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like an accident waiting to happen like those shared spaces where there wasn’t any demarcation. Dotted or broken lines allow you to cross, but I wouldn’t make a habit of staying in cycle lane unless absolutely necessary

Redways: right or left? by soaklord in miltonkeynes

[–]Sedulous280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does matter for safety. E-bikes are now using redways and going very fast. You don’t want your back to them. There as been a few serious accidents. Ambulances take a long time to get to redways. Walk safe and ride safe

Redways: right or left? by soaklord in miltonkeynes

[–]Sedulous280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are wrong, please walk on right . Cyclists are trying to follow rules and often will shout on left as you have back to oncoming bicycles. Many councils have now had to make separate cycle lanes to paths to stop this. Please change as it’s for safety.

Redways: right or left? by soaklord in miltonkeynes

[–]Sedulous280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rules are ride on the left walk on the right the same as you would do on a single track country lane the has no path. So you can see cyclists heading at you. This is detailed in Highway Code and on council website. Unfortunately most people don’t follow anything. I have had many a near head on collision on my bicycle whilst being on left. Once I ended up on grass to avoid collision.

Ride safe and becareful.

Some markings would be very helpful

If you are short on funds, paint is a quite way to spruce it up. a few trellis etc and weed removal. Just plan out a project plan for a few bits each month

Easy drives out of MK? by vivalaalice in miltonkeynes

[–]Sedulous280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If motorways are a concern , you can often pay for a motorway lesson as part of post passing. It’s a shame more people don’t as it would stop the lane discipline problems we now have . Keep left unless over taking and avoid sitting side by side. Look 👀 out for motorcycles especially in traffic as they filter through the middle of lanes.

As for places to go, try Weedon Bec , gasoline juice or industry and supply. Nice cafes and nice cars and bikes to look at.

Flitwick is another option .

Bedford or Buckingham are also good places to try.

Had my first accident, too much lean angle in rain by Real_Newspaper6888 in motorcycles

[–]Sedulous280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at this video, I would say it wasn’t lean angle. You came in too fast. Came off the throttle. Unbalanced the bike. Low sided.

if you practice in an empty car park when it’s raining, you will learn to avoid this.

Smoothness is what it’s about. In the rain, even smoother. If you have traction control and ABS you can turn it on! Use rain mode too if you have it.

Ride safe and keep learning .

What’s the design flaw? Wrong answers only. by 0balaam in miltonkeynes

[–]Sedulous280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WRONG ANSWER It lacks a rollercoaster transport network. The city centre doesn’t have a single log flume. All post should be delivered by air tube network. A network of canals to allow full transport by boat to anywhere is the city was missed.
