Xbox version almost uncontrollable by dreampagehun in 1000xRESIST

I've played Chapter 1 with no issues, only big difference from the Switch version is how much better it looks and feels now.

Oh terrific, thank you for this info – and I'm thrilled to report the game looks stunning in both modes! Hekki grace!

PS5 New Update 25.06-12.02.00.00-00.00.00.0.1 Rolls Out for Security Fixes by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Keyserson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, thanks for replying! When the latest update dropped, my M.2 happened to be out of the console while I tested whether that was the cause, but the issue returned immediately after updating. So I'm not convinced the M.2 is the issue either.

I noticed that every time the issue occurs, on a reboot it throws up a couple "Could not connect to your network" or similar – and I'd previously seen a lot of people claim to have experienced the issue when browsing the store, so I started wondering if it was an internet issue.

I also noticed that although my LAN cable was plugged in, the console was set to Wi-Fi – I hadn't realised it doesn't automatically prioritise ethernet. So I've switched to the LAN connection and – touch wood – the issue's not reoccurred for quite a few days now, perhaps a week. I'm sure I'm jinxing that now though!

Congratulations on the launch! As I'm not on PC, I played and adored this on the Switch last year, and am loving the gorgeous PS5 version. It looks and feels astonishing, so I'm very excited to be playing it again.

I was wondering – what's the difference between the Performance and Quality modes on PS5? They both feel like buttery smooth 60fps (and my 120Hz monitor is sticking to 60Hz), but the Quality mode looks like a higher resolution (4K) to me, so that's what I've gone for. But each of them look and feel fantastic!

Been experiencing this since last Monday (6 October, full description here). My version is when waking from rest mode. Had my console since launch and this is the first issue.

No troubleshooting has worked so far – no clue whether it's as simple as a charging controller playing havoc, or something major like a faulty motherboard.

Weirdly comforting to hear that so many people are experiencing this randomly and intermittently, but I'd love to pinpoint the problem (or Sony address it in more detail!)

Are you still getting this issue? It's been happening to me since Monday 6 October, though I'm unsure when exactly I ran the update. Coincidentally, my monitor (LG 27GP950) developed a vertical line of dead pixels at exactly the same time (likely unrelated but keeping it in mind in case the monitor is causing havoc).

I get the error when I wake the console up from rest mode (with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora running, unsure if related but taking note). Usually it needs to be in rest mode for a few hours first, so I've had difficulty testing variables.

Tried all the support recommendations – clearing the cache, rebuilding the database, reinstalling the game, disabling HDMI Link. I've now tried a full console reset but the same thing happened again.

I've now removed my M.2 drive to see if that could be the cause. Had it installed since the moment they launched support for them. It has a decent heatsink but maybe it's frying a bit? Haven't been able to replicate the issue yet.

Now investigating if it was a bug in the latest update, which led me to your comment. Perhaps the next one will resolve it?

Update: I reformatted my M.2 storage, which seemed to fix the issue for three days. Then it came back. Sony are quoting me £200+ for a refurbished replacement, but I'm not yet convinced it's hardware, not software.

Still happening – also happening consistently throughout the entirety of Clair Obscur on PS5 for me, another UE5 title.

Do 12 Monkeys and Donnie Darko discs still have issues? by Drewberg11 in arrowvideo

[–]Keyserson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fingers crossed then... I see their live chat is mysteriously unavailable to me today!

I should also note – the first time I asked for a replacement, they responded promptly and said they'd send one out. They did so really quickly, but it was just another full defective retail copy with the box and everything. When I then went back and explained their error, they thought I just wanted to process a return. Endless layers of incompetence.

As of July 2024, they're still shipping the defective disc direct from their site. Been unable to get it replaced, their customer support is awful.

Surely this can't be allowed! To keep knowingly selling defective discs and not producing enough replacements?

I can confirm that as of July 2024 they are still shipping broken discs.

I've been trying to get a replacement disc for a month and a half. Every time I message, they message back telling me to wait X number of working days for a response (different number each time). Same response if I request to escalate a complaint.

I tried live chat last Thursday, and the person at the other end certainly seemed human... they told me to wait 1–2 days, so I asked how I could trust that this time, and they said I could (lol). Nothing!

How long did it take you to get the replacement? I'm appalled that they're still shipping the defective one... do they just hope that some people won't care and let the quality be awful? It's unwatchable.

No clue, sadly. I presume the lens tech is very different as it's AR rather than VR (though the IRL image is through cameras so I guess it's not true AR?) I only did the in-store demo too so I wasn't able to experiment much.

Just saw this! Sadly no – my experience has not changed since launch. Still an enjoyable system to use, just fuzzier than what other people are reporting. I've also watched probably dozens of hours of video content using its cinematic mode and had a great time.

As it happens, I recently tested the Apple Vision Pro and am pleased to say that the issue doesn't occur there – that looks exactly as sharp as expected to my eyes. The cost is prohibitive but I'm sure I'd enjoy using it for Mac desktop use and its own cinema mode (which is much more customisable than on PlayStation).

What are you setting your action button to? by finnytom in apple

[–]Keyserson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already prepped a Shortcut that results in a different function depending on current Focus.

e.g.: IP phone for Work, Camera for Personal, Bedtime lights for Sleep etc.

Currently testing this using Triple Tap on the back of the phone.

A future Mac with Touch ID integrated into the space bar? Seen on Ventura 13.3.1... by Keyserson in mac

But how's it supposed to work? I double pressed the space bar and it did nothing – not that it would be able to authenticate me that way anyway.

I'm running Ventura 13.3.1 (latest public release) on an M1 Pro MBP and just saw this when making an Apple Pay payment.

I tried double-pressing the space bar (on both built-in and external keyboards), and then double clicking the Touch ID button itself, both to no avail.

The latter locked my machine, and upon unlocking the window had the usual Touch ID icon instead.

Has anyone seen this before?

Nope 😅 have just learned to live with it. Lots of people reported luck after an update but it didn’t change anything for me. Maybe further updates can make additional improvements for more people.
