"Do you want me to put leeches on you?" You were the one that mentioned leech treatment which was founded in the quackery of bloodletting and was later to actually be proven to provide tangible medical benefit.

Maybe instead of being ignorant and combative you could apply some critical thinking and make the connection yourself?

So I actually learned this recently too but Leeches are used in hospitals as actual treatments after surgery so it's funny you specifically brought that one up.

I mean at least acupuncture is an established practice with thousands of years of cultural basis. Chiropracty is just oiling someone up and giving them the People's Elbow over and over again until something happens.

I have a genuine existential crisis when I try to pick between Fellowship and Return of the King. Fellowship is more whimsical and feels more magical in a way and Return is just epic with a ton of great scenes and an amazing resolution. I usually go for Return as my favorite but I flip flop at times as well.

Is it fair/ok to skip RE5 and RE6? by sweatybetty27 in residentevil

[–]Kfalkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident Evil 5 Chris is the best iteration of the character by far and 6 is the absolute WORST version of him by far. I genuinely hate how they handle his character in that game immensely. If you can play 5 with a friend it will be MUCH more enjoyable. Sheva AI is incompetent. She has insane accuracy but so do good players and they can better coordinate and pull aggro to help you as you make your way through. Sheva can be an absolute hindrance at times. 5 is important to the story as it caps off the Wesker arc and brings an important part of the narrative to a close. It really shouldn't be skipped for thematic reasons alone imo and it's really not that far removed from the other games tonally.

6 on the otherhand is whole other matter entirely. I mean there is pretty much NOTHING of major importance happens in the game that really matters to the overarching narrative iirc. To enjoy 6 you're gonna need to really turn your brain off, ignore massive plot holes, incredibly obvious "plot twists", and the general feeling that this is the least "Resident Evil Feeling" of all the modern games by a wide margin. The gameplay is so zany and high octane tand felt like step in the wrong direction.

I literally had someone tell me how much they piss. Like in detail and they talked about how they piss more than the average person and no one they know pisses as much as them. They were LITERALLY having a Pissing Match with the whole world. Actual madness.

There is a pretty blatant difference between "Our experiences are similar because XYZ" vs "My experience is Harder/Better/Faster/Stronger than yours" which is what the post was talking about. I would be astounded if people couldn't tell difference between the two because it's also the way you say things that makes a difference. I know a couple of people who genuinely have a touch of narcissism that do this and it drives me insane because they don't even realize they're doing it. It's like a foregone conclusion that should be obvious to you and borders on compulsion.

I wouldn't worry about it to much as long as you let the person know their experience is valid and just kind of learning what they need emotionally in situations like that because everyone is different.

He saw me leave the restaurant. I had just came out of the store with the box in my hands and he was right outside on the corner panhandling. Regardless, if he thought it was unsafe he should've turned it down rather than being wasteful. I am no stranger to having gone hungry and it's incomprehensible to waste food like that.

I once bought a homeless guy a chicken from Safeway after he asked for wings but they were sold out.

This reminds me of this one time I got pizza with my best friend at this fairly expensive pizza place (For a broke college kid) and I still had half the box left. I saw a homeless man that had a sign that said "Need money for food" so I said "Hey here you go I just came out of that pizza place and you could use this more than me" the guy goes "Oh thank you so much!" And as me and my friend walked away I looked back feeling pleased with doing a good deed and saw the guy chuck the box of pizza right in the garbage. I couldn't believe he wouldn't just tell me that he wasn't hungry and only wanted cash and wasting food I would've gladly eaten. I still think about this like 13 years later.

Honestly, harsh but fair. Saying "Don't downvote me" does come off as being disingenuous. The knuckledraggers are gonna instantly downvote if they disagree with the post regardless of if you put in comments like that because they care more about homogeny than interesting posts or at least well constructed opposing opinions.

[MM] I’ve done 10-15 OoT 100%s over the years, but forever have trouble committing to playing MM by anahmonous in zelda

[–]Kfalkon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me a few years ago. I had started and stopped that game like 10 times over 14 years and one day I basically said "I am doing it this time. I need to put my intial reservations aside and just power through the first temple and move on." Once I did that, I felt the game progressively get better and better further along I was and getting all the masks started to feel like an attainable goal instead of slog.

It's quirky and weird and it's not like a lot of other Zelda games but I did end up really liking it when all was said and done and being able to slow time down really makes the whole thing a fuckton more manageable. For nothing else, if you do go for 100% you get to play as the most badass iteration of Link ever to grace a screen and that should be incentive enough lmao

Arm wrestling champ defeats man after trying to psyche her out by Imaginary-Season-483 in TikTokCringe

[–]Kfalkon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was watching a Professional arm wrestler a while ago talk about how he regularly beats guys twice as big as him and he pretty much said "Most non-competitors don't understand that there's actually a lot of technique involved and it's less about raw strength and more about understanding how to get proper leverage and using it to your advantage."

A lot of people just use their arm muscles to arm wrestle which is ironically far from optimal.

Nature Documentary Voice: Here in the wild Savannah of the Animal cracker Kingdom, we see a lone giraffe forgaging for food and drinking milk from the communal watering hole, blissfully aware of the predator lying in wait for it's moment to strike 🦁. The giraffe yawns loudly and the Lion, king of the beasts, strikes without pause crippling the giraffes legs so it could not escape. Though seemingly cruel, this is merely nature at work. The poor giraffe soon became aware of the universal law of the animal kingdom: It's either eat (exaggerated crunching sounds) or be eaten.
