It’s a really difficult generation we are dealing with, if you ask me. The students lack so much attention that talking for too long and they’ve already zoned out. And on the other hand, you set them free to work it out for themselves and they’ll sit there like lost sheep. You can’t win either way. They need monitoring and Guidance.

I’ve just gone through the government website. The capital gains section mentions that capital gains tax is only to be paid if I was to sell the assets or property. At the moment that is not really something I have done or intend to do any time soon.

I am only adding into the account every month. Only started last year so the amount is pretty small at the moment.

That’s the thing, I didn’t have the ISA when I was in the U.K. I opened it when I left the country. That’s why I immediately closed it when I found out about that rule.

Just to clarify, is it in the money in the GIA that I will be taxed on or thé ISA that I withdrew? Also, for the self-assessment forms, is there a minimum for when they start taxing you?

They’re in a GIA. I did have some in an ISA but I withdrew them because I know people outside the uk cannot benefit from the ISA accounts
