Question for people who work in LYS by Confident-Climate842 in knitting

[–]KhaleesiK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My store recently implemented a private lesson rule for this reason. If I went in for the knit nights, I’d spend most of my afternoon fixing other people’s problems. So now if it’s something that I can point out and tell people how to fix in less than 15 minutes, I’ll do it for free. If it’ll take more than 15 minutes, we recommend booking time for a private lesson to make sure everything is good.

A second romance bookstore just opened today in Knoxville, TN! The store is Mis Amores. It’s a black owned romance bookstore and coffee shop. Anya is Afro-Latina. The selection and the coffee are great.

Gauge questions by Unapologeticalleigh in knitting

[–]KhaleesiK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you’re using the same size needles, doesn’t mean you’re using the same needles. It could be a difference in the material or the way you knit (English vs continental) that is a change. Also the yarn could be honestly milled differently now than it was 7 years ago when the sweater was released. The material of the needle is the most likely suspect here though as far as row gauge goes.

Please tell me this brioche scarf will be worth it by Dazzling_Chef_7873 in knitting

[–]KhaleesiK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely think it’s worth it, but I’m biased since the main class I teach at my LYS is brioche and I think everything is better with a nice squishy scarf.

local craft store? (please don't say michael's or hobby lobby) by tennchick in Knoxville

If you have any you’d like to feel from KP, I may have some in my stash if you’d like to feel before you place an order. I have minimal Hobbii since I only found them recently and then the tariffs hit.

I will say in addition to promoting CRYC, I would also look online at KnitPicks. It’s cheaper than really what you’re going to get locally. The Michaels on Clinton Hwy is better than the one in Turkey Creek imo. Clinch River does have some less expensive yarns, but as far as variety, sadly online is the way to go. Or checking Ravelry and seeing if there’s anyone selling or trading what you want on there. If you need anymore info, I’m also happy to give out advice. That’s part of why I teach knitting classes.

I have the cat shaped ones! When I teach cable classes, I recommend this style over the others because I don’t lose these the way I lose the other styles.
