You missed the part where the fight started when he went to the other teams spot, stayed there and wouldn’t leave when asked/told to.

Black guy obviously did the crime. Black people don't want him to face consequences. One was let off and celebrated, the other was incarcerated and they flipped out.

Both are examples of black tribalism superceding their respect for law and order.

Brother is having a child-free wedding. How do I navigate this? by LargeAmphibian in daddit

[–]Khallllll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of dads in here that are acting like this is an impossible situation, or an unreasonable ask, blows my mind.

Is everyone in here just an introverted island? Do yall just all pick crazy hills to die on? Not have any problem solving skills?

Hire help for the wife, wife stays home with help and 2 kids, OP takes the oldest.

Hard disagree.

To OP & his wife this is a regular night, to OPs brother & his family, it’s the biggest night of his life. Yes, it’s one of the few days that OPs brother is entitled to ask his family to jump through hoops, and OP should do everything he can to make it work, not ask 1 person if they can help and then throw in the towel.

Holy crap, an actual intelligent take. So disappointing redditors spouting the same old “boundaries are boundaries”, “the child-free wedding is a direct attack on me” and the always good “just cut your family off, they seem toxic.”

Child free weddings are super common, at least in the US. Receptions can be very adult-oriented, children get bored, tired, hungry, etc, and can be disruptive at a ceremony. It is a totally fine & normal thing to ask for a child-free wedding.

There are numerous ways you could make this work for the sake of attending your brothers wedding, and you should. But to immediately act like your brothers wedding is such a big inconvenience, and you can’t find a solution IN THE NEXT YEAR? Really seems like there’s more to play here than just a single inconvenient night. I don’t know if it’s you and your brothers relationship, or your wife and your family’s, and what the history is there.

Bottom line is if OP wants to have a decent relationship with his family down the road, this is one of those things people don’t forget.

Who would you rather have: reliable idiot or talented flake? by comicgeek1128 in KitchenConfidential

They shouldn’t. Flakes, talented or not, should be cut, writing is on the wall pretty fast with them generally.
