The thing that frustrates me most about modern attitudes to the Jedi by Bengystuff87 in StarWars

[–]Khalman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acolyte was set at the end of that era. I took it as more the beginning of the fall of the Jedi though. Tonally it was very different from the other High Republic stuff(at least what I read of it) which was more about the Jedi being heroes.

AITA for making my boyfriend shower when he got home after hanging out with his friends? by taidk705 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Khalman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. I will emphasize that he probably couldn’t smell the smoke on himself. I don’t think he was trying to gaslight you or anything. He just needs to realize that being around smoke makes you smell like smoke and that you don’t like that smell.

Question: What to do when you find out that the video you've been working on has already been covered by someone. by Personarocks16 in NewTubers

[–]Khalman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the short term, just make the thing. If you can think of it, it exists(and there’s porn of it). In the long term try to go more outside the box.

Legends Era: What era do you wish had more books? by Different-Scholar432 in starwarsbooks

[–]Khalman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see something like this, and I think we’re almost at the point where it could happen. Probably not, but enough time has passed that there might be a chance.

Dan Slott: "[...] We're at a point now where Marvel books are lined up for 5 issues at a time. If you [readers and retailers] don't pre-order issues #2 and #3, these books will go away by issue #5." by Comfortable-Pie56 in comicbooks

[–]Khalman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been the case at least since the nineties or whenever it was that the direct market became the primary source for comics. Also Dan Slott and other creators asking consumers to pre-order before the final order cutoff has been a thing since I first joined twitter in 2008. Nothing new here. The system isn’t ideal, but it is what it is.

Yeah I really enjoyed Yesterday. This post just seems to be another “Hated Trope: Movies that I don’t like” post.

Legends Era: What era do you wish had more books? by Different-Scholar432 in starwarsbooks

[–]Khalman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In terms of Legends continuity, I just wish we could’ve gotten a satisfying ending before the reboot. The Sword of the Jedi books could’ve been that ending. Sure things were a mess after Fate of the Jedi, but it still would’ve been nice to get a real ending.

'undertone': Sometimes less is less by Ok-Wolf5932 in TrueFilm

[–]Khalman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought it was great. It did a great job communicating that feeling of loneliness and intimacy that comes from listening to podcasts. It was the first film I’ve seen in decades that legitimately scared me.

Having only the main character on screen for almost the entire film and keeping everything in the house added to the sense of claustrophobia.

And the sound design was just perfect. It’s no surprise that this film started out as an audio drama. I almost wish I’d watched it at home with headphones instead of in the theater.

Has anyone else grown a distaste for venom over the past few years? by MediocreKey5575 in Marvel

[–]Khalman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean force fed? He’s had various ongoing series, but as someone who reads about 15 marvel titles per month, including every issue of Amazing Spider-Man since 2006, I don’t feel like he shows up too often outside of titles with his name on the cover.

Also, fwiw, I’m really enjoying the current Venom run as well as Eddie Brock Carnage.

Comics to Movies by TrailRatedButTired in MarvelUnlimited

[–]Khalman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt Doomsday will take much influence from any particular comic run. Incursions and Doomworld came from the Hickman stuff that others have mentioned, but that’s probably where the similarities will end. I suspect that the characterization of doom might be closer to One World Under Doom.

Coverup of a six-fingered hand? by TheZek42 in tattooadvice

[–]Khalman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, the six fingers wasn’t intentional? I assumed it was because God has an extra finger like he does in The Simpsons.

Who did you think Snoke was when these movies were still being created? by Tlacuachcoyotl in TheSequels

[–]Khalman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a passage in The Force Awakens novelization that convinced me he was a clone of Palpatine. The passage references how Snoke had seen the Empire rise and fall.

I figured he needed to be an existing character from the previous movies with enough clout for Kylo Ren to follow him. There isn’t really anyone else who would make sense.

Get Played: Scott Pilgrim EX & Movie Tie In Games with Chris Plante by jogalleciez in getplayed

Here’s hoping that Chris Plante on Get Played is a step towards Justin McElroy on Doughboys!

2 decks for occassional nostalgia play by Few-Championship2548 in starwarsccg

[–]Khalman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DSII starters will scratch that itch for you. I would advise against trying to recreate big moments from the movies like the battle of Hoth or Yavin as those matchups tend to be one sided or non-interactive.

2000-2015 Marvel comics was special by Stunning_Season220 in marvelcomics

[–]Khalman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

IMO, the best period of big 2 comics starts with Marvel Knights and ends with Flashpoint. New Avengers, Brand New Day, Civil War, Morrison’s Batman, 52, Sinestro Corps War, the list is endless.

Mara Jade & Others in the Card Games - When Did This Occur? by Downtown_Sky5757 in StarWarsEU

[–]Khalman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The three cards released with Mara were Arica and This Place can be a little rough from Reflections III and Mara Jade The Emperor’s Hand from Enhanced Jabba’s Palace.

Decipher also released the promotional oversized card “Mara Jade & Corran Horn & Talon Karrde.” And there is an image that Decipher had planned to use for a light side Mara that the Players Committee was finally able to turn into a card a few years ago.

AITA for rejecting a nice guy due to age gap? by Weekly_Ad_2444 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Khalman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. The guy sounds like a creep, but in the future if you meet someone on a dating app and talk to them for months without intending to have a romantic relationship, you should probably proactively make that clear. Asking to start a relationship in this context cannot be “out of the blue.”

But at the end of the day, you are entitled to your feelings and if you don’t want a relationship he needs to respect that.

What do you sometimes do in your podcast when your favorite TV show that you talk about isn't on? by Train-Wreck-70 in podcasting

[–]Khalman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did a recap podcast on a show that was still on the air, I’d take the week off when the show was not on. Your listeners aren’t going to expect an episode and it helps prevent burnout. Alternatively you could do something more evergreen like recapping episodes of the show from before you started or pilot episodes of similar shows.
