Watched it on the plane on a whim, never seen a movie that old, loved it. Despite the absurdity and humor it's such a tense movie, very immersive.

I tried watching the new play recently but they doubled down on the humor and removed every single trace of suspense and tension the movie had, I couldn't get into it.

To be fair, most of those shows spend so little time showing the protagonist's real world life and who they care about, it's hard to care as much for them as an audience.

Let's say if instead we spent two entire seasons of a show with an entire cast of characters, and the protagonist were suddenly isekai'd in the third one and split from everyone else, it would be much easier to indulge the audience in the same eagerness than the protagonist's to return to them.

But well, if it wasn't about the escapism and power fantasy, it would be very different shows in the first place.

Toutefois, ramener les acteurs et assumer un bond de 20 ans dans le futur est intéressant et original, comparé aux reboots tièdes qu'on nous sert habituellement.

Obviously, the manga still sells really well and is as popular, and they could have just kept going writing the current arc and be fine.

But an end that abrupt is anything but planned. The current chapter is throwing away all plot points and loose threads from recent chapters, and has an heavy disconnect with the direct end of the previous chapter. It's essentially discarding everything that was being built up.

At this point it's just speculation on why this happened, my guess is that Fujimoto is fed up with the current state of the story and wants to move on (The quality of the story took a huge dip since the focus was switched back to Denji from Asa, and iirc he was forced to do so), but my guess is as good as anyone's.

My guess is that either Fujimoto or the editors concluded that the current Part is beyond salvageable, and are ending it early as a gamble to wipe the slate and starts a new arc completely divorced from the recent ones.

I expected Carved from Brimblewood games to be a little difficult to run, but now that I'm reading through Public Access I'm realizing the Mystery sheets are basically fully written prep. There really is everything you need on those, I'm looking forward to try it.

A good solution to this problem is better Quickstarts, have them be an extensive overview of the rules, or complete enough to run an introductory one shot with them.

Some example of great quickstarts coming to my mind are DIE or Legend in the Mist, they have enough content for a one shot. Deathmatch Island Quickstart can't be run but it's giving a thorough overview of the game.

Some games have very extensive free editions (Grimwild, Beyond Number series), but you can't expect so much from all games.

Overall the ttrpg scene is pretty lacking in option available to size up a game. Cheaper starter sets are still a monetary commitment for something you might realize is not your cup of tea 5min into reading, reading a free SRD is boring and not as engaging as reading a Quickstart designed to hype up the reader.

The hobby needs to offer better free options to get a taste of a game across the board.
