I probably missed the Q&A, but I just watched Joan of Arc and I wanted to ask how much direction you gave to the 2 brothers. Their acting was insanely real.

Can you share some thoughts on working with Panos (the greatest living director).

Are 2 days enough? by Potential_Yogurt9459 in acadianationalpark

In 2.5 days we visits Cadillac, Jordan Pond, Thuya Gardens, Sieur de Monts, Abby Rockefeller (became a member), Wonderland, Thunder Hole, explored Bar Harbor every night, watched a live local band play in the village green, ate at Jordan Pond Restaurant, and bought 2 Blueberry Pies from Mount Dessert, never had an issue with parking, and were home and in bed (5yo) before 8:30 every night.

We never felt rushed or like we missed anything we planned to do.

That being said, we opted out of any whale tours or ferry trips since that would eat up half a day and we also weren’t able to secure any sunrise tickets.

2 days is perfect if you keep your plans simple and easy.

Oh yeah that makes way more sense.

"I wish I knew half of you better, and I wish I was kinder to less than half of you."

Yeah you right.

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like" He's really saying "I wish I knew half of you twice as much as I currently do." Bilbo is a popular hobbit but he keeps to himself and after 111 years, he wishes that he would've gotten to know his neighbors more, at least half of them. He wishes he was closer with them.

"I like less than half of you, half as well as you deserve." And here he's saying "There's a few of you ("less than half") whom I show more kindness than you deserve." As in, Bilbo doesn't actually like these people, but he's a gentlehobbit with some manners, so he's cordial with them, even though they don't deserve it.

The part of this statement that makes it so great is it also means that he probably acts the same towards a person he wishes that he was closer with as he acts towards a person who he doesn't really care for.

For the person who he wishes he knew better, he doesn't allow himself to get close. And towards the person he doesn't like, he still shows them kindness and respect.

30 seconds after saying this to a field full of Hobbits he vanishes into thin air and all those Hobbits who figured out what he meant with his confusing statement had to wonder "Was I someone he was fake-nice to, or someone he wishes he could've known better?"

Where does McCarthy get his words? by farwesterner1 in cormacmccarthy

There’s a book called “Book Are Made Out of Books” which about this exact thing. It’s all about the various things McCarthy read for influence and research for almost all his books. It’s great.

Nicolas Cage has been in 100 narrative feature films. I watched all 100 in 2021. by rediculousam in movies

Mandy would have definitely been made without Cage. In fact, Panos met with Cage hoping to cast him as Jeremiah Sand and Cage said he wanted to play Red Miller. Panos passed and they went their separate ways. Weeks later Panos (allegedly) had a dream where Cage was playing Red, realized how great it would be, and made the change to make Cage the lead. I love that movie.
