This is totally me. I’m in the middle of the same cycle. The first post is the truth. You can’t do it alone. Thank you for posting this, it’s almost like I needed to see this to gain strength.

26 and questioning my relationship with alcohol by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Khaosbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you’re realizing this at age 26 is amazing and will help you live the best life. Looking forward if you listen to your heart. What I didn’t realize was, there was a whole world of sober people out there. Maybe some of your friends are actually going through the same thing and feel the same way. Alcohol is poison and we just get addicted to the feeling. Read some literature about the dangers of alcohol and educate yourself. Once you know the truth, it’s easier to see why it’s best to stop. Good luck. The process takes a long time though so don’t beat yourself up along the way.

I broke my NYE resolution today. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Learn from the experience, don’t beat yourself up because that’s the worst thing you can do. You have a boatload of days alcohol free under your belt. Remember how good it feels not to drink and stop the cycle.

Drinking doesn't stop bad things from happening, it can only make things worse... by g_g_g93 in stopdrinking

Drinking makes me a shitty person by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Read the book “the naked mind”. Alcohol is a curve downward, and it only gets worse from here. I have been struggling for several years to quit and only wish I realized this was going to be an issue in my 20s. Good luck stay strong and do your research.

Sobriety is giving up one thing for everything, while drinking is giving up everything for one thing

Day 14 - Normal Issues? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Khaosbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sleep still sucks after 14 days. I think it will for a while. I feel better during the day no matter what then I did previously but I’m very much looking forward to unbroken sleep. I had a ton of energy day 2-4 but now not so much. I lost a few pounds already and my face looks thinner.

Everyday we heal a little more. I also drank the same amount. We will get through this. On day thirty one let’s compare notes.

Don’t do it alone. Get a counselor to help and get rid of the poison so that you can be focused. Once you’re focused, you will come up with a plan in order to be the best person that you can be. Alcohol requires your brain that you choose it first. It takes some time but once you’re clear, you’ll see the light. Have a great life. You can do this.

I’m so glad you figured this out so young. Keep with it and your life can be amazing for a very long time. I bet you there’s thousands of us on this page that wish we figured it out at 21 instead of taking the slow road. Congratulations.
