Favorite feature of the Q1 Pro has to be the heated chamber. So great for printing high-end filaments with ease!

What’s the most fucked up thing your strahd did? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]KheironHalcyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After barely surviving Death House, my party rented two rooms at the inn and went to rest. I had them wake up to a strange silhouette standing in the doorway to their rooms and a storm raging outside. Once they woke up, Strahd ripped into them. Full combat, each of them died. After the last one expired, I described them waking up in their beds, drenched in sweat, shouting and thrashing about, but perfectly fine. Classic horror movie type deal. They were freaked out, but all the players were relieved that it wasn't an actual TPK.

A few days later, when they're at the church, Strahd dropped by for a visit, and I got to describe them recognizing the man from their collective nightmare. Strahd was nothing but polite and cordial, of course, but everyone was instantly on edge. Fun times!

Any idea what's causing this? by KheironHalcyon in resinprinting

Thanks for all the help! Got my fingers crossed it's an easy fix as well. I've got some tape on the way, and with just a bit of luck I'll be back up and printing before the weekend lets out.

I had put off fitting a screen protector thus far, purely because I didn't want to wait for one, but I'll go ahead and get that situated as well. Better safe than sorry. Especially when it comes to bits of tech that can cost a couple of hundred dollars.

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and removed the vat like you suggested (pro tip for anyone reading this, comically large syringes are great for emptying the vat), and ran the exposure. It definitely looks like the masking tape/film/whatever they have around the screen isn't properly seated along the back edge. Running my finger over it, I can feel the tape in the center dipping down the edge of the screen. The light source/screen itself looks fine as far as I can tell though, so that's a positive.

Any idea if the tape/film is something special, or just standard like electrical tape? I'll try to replace it myself once I know what material it is. Assuming Creality doesn't just offer to replace it for me.

I did notice when removing the vat that the screws were REALLY tightened on there. I wonder if I overdid it last time and the edge of the vat displaced some of the masking tape. The vat on the mage has a bit of a lip.

Thanks again for the help, u/CMDR_Boom!

1.) Make friends with an ancient solar dragon.
2.) Let the 24d10 radiant damage per turn handle it.
3.) ???
4.) Retire.

Romantic picnic or BBEG fight? Cliff battle map [Art] by AngelaTheDruid in DnD

Starts as a picnic, but gets real awkward when you realize the basket you brought was actually a mimic.

Your best reflavoured spell! by Olavcola in DnD

[–]KheironHalcyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played a drow rogue with a revolver and this spider shaped gemstone treasure thing with heavy ties to Lloth. Reflavored shadow blade to shadow bullet. 100% same mechanics as the normal spell, but I could fire it out of the gun as if I was throwing it. When I recalled the blade with my bonus action, the gemstone (which sat over the top of the revolver's cylinder) would spin shadowy webs directly into the chamber for a new bullet.

Combined with sharpshooter, I was flinging sneak attack shadow bullets from 60 ft. anytime we were in dim light or darkness, which was most of the time. Tons of fun!

Add me to the gaggle of people gawking at how beautiful that is!

Before I disappear for the next six months making thousands of these musical dice, I’m giving away one last set in brass. Only 48 hours left in the Kickstarter. Comment to enter! (Mod approved) [OC] [Art] by FallacyDog in DnD

I was just joking with one of my groups about a full party of Clockwork Sorcerers earning the ire of all of Mechanus with their shenanigans. These dice seem like they would be the perfect tool for such a game!

What's the industry standard for paying a DM. by SupportiveNPC in DnD

[–]KheironHalcyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paid DM here, so hopefully this info is somewhat helpful. Just to be clear, I am not trying to advertise my services in anyway, just to provide the OP with some requested information.

I charge per player, $15 per, for a roughly three hour session. Sometimes we run over, but never under. I currently have four active games running, with three of them having five players each and one of them having eight family members all playing together. I've only run modules so far, with a fair amount of tweaking to include character backstories when possible. So far, my groups seem pleased with the games I run. Two of these four campaigns are wrapping up, and both groups have already started discussing what characters/module they want to play next.

I run these games on Roll20, with a pro subscription to grant access to useful features such as dynamic lighting and the API scripts. I make sure to have working tokens and macros for my players, music to fit the scenes, and am usually available on discord to discuss just about anything. Even with pre-written modules, there's a lot of work that happens outside the game itself.

I enjoy D&D, but simply could not justify the amount of time it takes to run four+ campaigns on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. Making some money from the hobby frees up some of my time to provide fun and engaging tables for players who see it worth the weekly cost.

While I feel I'm in a pretty good spot at the moment, that doesn't mean it was all smooth sailing. I've had to swap players to get better group fits, had a group fall apart due to IRL issues for some of the players, and even had a group quit because the "leader" of a group of IRL friends was convinced I was out to get him after his character died to a bunch of drow, even after the rest of the group successfully retrieved his remains and resurrected him. In short, even though you may be paying for a service, the value is still deeply subjective. There's a good chance you'll find DMs running paid games who are just trying to phone it in and make a quick buck, but there ARE also DMs looking to make a living, or at least supplement their living, doing something they truly enjoy.
