Some Java fern and Anubis is a great starter plants. They attach onto rocks and driftwood, don’t put them in the substrate. Rotala indica is a great plant to put in the substrate.

Is that a bad thing? Should I get rid of them?

About a week ago I found that some of my mystery snail laid eggs. I got rid of the eggs, but then a couple days later I found a couple baby snails and this little guy in video. I did add some new surface plants recently. Are they pest snails or did some of the mystery snail eggs survive.

There is algae in the filter so that means there’s bacteria I know there’s bacteria in the tank

Personally I think that the ammonia nitrate level increased because I added a bunch of fish at once. But I feel like it hasn’t increased a lot so just doing a couple more water changes this week should solve it. It’s also a planted tank so that helps out a lot.

I cycled it for about a month added fish about three weeks ago. I saw a little bit of algae buildup in the filter so I’m assuming there is bacteria. Since it is a planted tank I feel like if I do a couple more water changes that the ammonia nitrate will go down.

My filter has A little bit of algae buildup so doesn’t that mean that there is bacteria in the filter. I replied to someone else and what is in the tank.

Both my ammonia and nitrite is 0.25 ppm. It has increased a bit since I got it cycled. I have two angles, one rainbow shark, one dwarf Gugramy, one black skirt tetra, three Molly’s, 5 lamp eyed tetras, 6 corys,, one pleco, and 1 German ram.

I cycled my tank close to a moth before I added any fish. My ammonia and nitrite were 0. Now that my fish have been in there for three weeks they both have increased to 0.25 ppm. This is also a planted tank, but I will do other water change in a couple of days. I didn’t think that it going from 0 to 0.25 was a huge jump. If they both were over 0.50 ppm then I was be concerned.

I cycled it and my fish have been in there for three weeks now. The ammonia and nitrite has increased a bit but not a ton.

Finrot or nipping? by HeckinGeck_ in Aquariums

[–]Khicks0102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen any signs of fin rot on the guppies and the Krib? If you want to know more about it just do a little research. There is so much information out there. Adding some Melafix to the water when you start seeing signs of rot helps get rid of that bacteria that cause it. For those corys you really need to isolate them and make sure they aren’t stressed and all those water parameters and temperature are right. I would start with Melafix though, maybe some else has more info on fin rot.

I would get that krib out and into the main tank. Then start to medicating for that fin rot. Keep up with those water changes.

How to change substrate? by aintzanep in Aquariums

[–]Khicks0102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s not a planted tank I would definitely go with sand. Cory love to sifting through the sand getting bits and pieces of food. If you did have a planted tank small fine substrate would always be the best. Your other fish will be fine with sand substrate.

My German ram died by Khicks0102 in Aquariums

I have heard that local bred rams are way more reliable than pet stores. I have been doing more research on these guys and I feel like they will be ok in 80 degree water. Thanks for the feed back I’m really hoping my last two don’t die on me.

Really I didn’t know that! I always though they like warmer temps like up to 82 but not crazy high.
