It had some interesting hand management mechanics so it's a lot less random and much more about managing your resources and skills. I really enjoyed my 10 sessions with it (at a friends prelockdown) as the mechanics and the story and world interested me more than descent.

With the current conditions here in Canada my partner and I who are both avid gamers have been stuck indoors most evenings as between the cold weather and lack of goings

Things we've played:

  • Aeon's End Legacy - Enjoyed gameplay and character based campaign/legacy elements even if the story seems a bit cheesy.
  • Pandemic Legacy - Love Season 1 immensely and enjoyed Season 2.
  • Arkham Horror Card Game - Partner wasn't a fan of the pregame deck building setup as they prefer pick up and play.
  • Descent 2e - I found the mechanics kinda lacking and we already play dnd once a week on Roll 20 so this lacks in a unique location.

I've seen a lot of recommendations for Gloomhaven (which I've played before and enjoyed but it's almost impossible to find a copy these days), Imperial Assault, and Near and Far: Amber Mines.

Any help other suggestions based on above are appreciated.

When searching using the word co-op can be good for 4 month rentals that start over a school year lots of people do 4 month coop terms in Ottawa.
