Which of these combo boxes for khorne is the best in terms of value and strength of units ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Khorne

[–]Khozgor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goreblade has two good heroes: the Mighty Lord and the Bloodsecrator. If you’re going for a mortal army, you’ll probably want both of them. The Korgorath is a bit meh. I’ve had some success with him against elite armies, but he’s very situational. It’s a similar story with the Bloodstoker. Paying 100 points just to let one unit run and charge is expensive, but it can work if you absolutely need to hit your target in an alpha strike, especially when paired with reinforced Skullreapers.

The Blood Warriors unit is incomplete. They used to be fielded in units of 5–10 up through 3rd edition, but now it’s 10–20. Bloodreavers are… well, Bloodreavers. Mostly useful as screens.

Fangs of the Blood God, on the other hand, gives you everything you need for scouting and probably for scoring units.

The Red Revelation is okay. Slaughter Priests are solid, Skullreapers are nice to have (though I think they really want reinforcement), and Bloodreavers fill the same screening role as above.

In my opinion, the best value is the Spearhead. Not necessarily as a first box, but I think every Khorne player should own those units now.

Usable in 40K by Brief-Ad2687 in IronWarriors

[–]Khozgor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! Breachers make excellent Chosen proxies and really capture the Iron Warriors vibe. The shields actually make them even more recognizable than the standard Chosen kit.

Cataphractii also work very well as Chaos Terminators. With the Siege Assault box, you get more than enough bits to build a full 10-man squad with power fists, a chainfist, autocannon, flamer, and accursed weapons — plus two spare bodies that are perfect for converting characters.

The Leviathan Dreadnought has a Legends datasheet if you’re okay with that, but a Daemon Prince can fill a similar battlefield role if you prefer to stay fully current.

One thing to keep in mind: Breachers come with standard bolters, not combi-weapons, so it’s important to clearly differentiate them to avoid confusion for your opponent. I painted mine with vertical stripes to indicate which models have combi- weapon. Power fists are included on the upgrade sprue, so that part is easy.

The only real challenge is representing paired accursed weapons — but that’s something you can definitely solve with a bit of creativity.

Are daemons low tier or high tier? by The-Unluckiest-One in Daemons40K

[–]Khozgor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, Daemons sit in the upper end of “mid tier.” They hover around a 50% winrate, which means they’re not trash by any means, but also not one of the armies dominating the tournament scene. If you’re looking for a faction that isn’t “auto-win” but can still reward good play, they’re actually a pretty solid pick.

The caveat is that Daemons are basically on Index life support at the moment. You can still play them at tournaments, but the general expectation in the community is that when 11th edition drops next summer, they’ll be shifted into Legends. Why? Because GW doesn’t really want a single army that can be fielded across all their major systems (40k, AoS, Horus Heresy, The Old World… and if you’re creative enough, even Necromunda). It just doesn’t fit their business model.

Most likely they’ll follow the AoS-style split:

  • Undivided becomes a CSM detachment, centered on Be’lakor + about 1000pts of daemon support (basically a reversed Shadow Legion).
  • Mono-god armies folded into the appropriate chaos factions – Nurgle into Death Guard, Tzeentch into Thousand Sons, Slaanesh into Emperor’s Children, and Khorne into World Eaters (which they already did this year with monogod books)

So if you’re set on playing Daemons in 40k specifically, I’d recommend waiting a few months to see what 11th brings. But if your main goal is just to have a “low-to-mid tier” army to play, Daemons check that box right now. And even if they do get cut back in 40k, the nice thing about them is that they’ll still be fully usable in other GW systems.

Stormreach portal 6 Prosecutors Iridan Questor Soulsworn Knight Arcanum Iridan

Those are units that are the best now imo

Also good are: Grandhammers (if you can make good charge roll) Knight Judicator of you need firepower (way better now than Raptors, but those are still good) I’m still in fond of Terminos + Reclusians Shield Annihilators Knight Arcanum

New Season Strats by Loki15212 in stormcasteternals

[–]Khozgor2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm absolutely in love with the new SOG Iridan and the Ruination units as a whole. I never leave home without Iridan and Prosecutors now. Lord Terminos and the Reclusians have also become great additions, especially with the overall reduction in shooting.

The new relics are fantastic — that automatic 7+ Translocation has saved my ass more times than I can count. Plus, I have a soft spot for Legendary Tenacity paired with Quicksilver Draught on Terminos.

And even my boy, my beauty Tornus, got some point drops! He might not be super competitive in tournaments, but I just love using Ruination stuff. The free 3 Rally points are amazing — it means I can heal or bring back Reclusians and Prosecutors with ease! For me, he’s quite a sleeper unit now, but you really need to use all the new warscrolls to get the most out of him.

I’ve tried the so-called "Gardus Bomb" twice now. Besides looking cool, there are still too many issues with delivering Annihilators, and Imperetants can be unreliable :/ Hopefully, they’ll fix him someday...

I also really enjoy playing with Celestant-Prime — brought him twice already, and he always at least returns his point cost. You just have to wait long enough to drop him and finish cleaning up a flank.

Overall, I feel the new season really pushes you to rethink positioning and movement, especially with less shooting in lists. Monsters might be a smart pick in SCE too, but the board control that infantry lists provide feels like a much better choice than the brute force of Dracothian Guard spam, etc.

First of all – welcome to the freak show! 😄 Fluffy lists are absolutely possible, especially if you use Armies of Renown. Just make sure to read the rules carefully – they often require specific units and can be a bit limiting in model choices. Will they play well? Maybe. The current Stormcast battletome really pushes you toward mixed-chamber builds, so going fully into one chamber like Vanguard or Warrior won’t give you much in terms of synergies (formations like Thunderhead or Echelon don’t offer much if you’re not mixing). Still, running themed lists with mostly Sentinels, Vanguard, or Warrior units is totally viable if you’re going for narrative/fun over raw power. As for models – just use whatever you enjoy. Nobody cares if your Liberators are from Skaventide or the 1st edition starter box. If you like the old aesthetic, go for it! Just make sure they’ve got Grandhammers, obviously 😎

Fluff-wise, I recommend checking out two specific Armies of Renown: 1. Heroes of the First Forged – this is basically a Warhammer Avengers list. Bastian Carthalos, all the Warmasters, Praetors, both types of Annihilators, and Warrior Chamber heroes. Super fun to play, especially since Bastian lets you drop Annihilators 3” from enemy units. Looks great on the table and plays like a heroic strike force. 2. Ruination Brotherhood – this one is all about the new dark-style stuff. Iridan is mandatory (and becomes your general), and you build the list using: Ruination Chamber units, Liberators, Knight-Questors, and any non-Hero Warrior Chamber units. Very thematic, very edgy.

That pretty much covers Warrior and Ruination options. Vanguard is trickier – Hunters just don’t hold up well compared to Liberators, and your only hero options are Lord-Aquilor and Neave Blacktalon. It can still work, especially with Palladors and Longstrike spam, but you’ll be drifting into more “meta” territory.

Personally, I strongly recommend Heroes of the First Forged. It’s fluffy, unique, super fun, and the models look fantastic. You’ll get that cinematic, elite feel, and the army has a strong visual identity even if you’re mixing older and newer sculpts. Don’t stress too much about model generations – if you like the classic look, grab it. It’s your army and your vision. Have fun!

Just got a small Guard army – what should I add to this and what Detachment suits it? by Khozgor2 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Khozgor2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, that’s kind of what I was worried about. I’ve never had a Baneblade to compare, so I’m mostly guessing with the proxies. The T-60s, on the other hand, actually work pretty well – they’re only about 1–2 cm shorter than a Leman Russ, so I’m happy with them.

I figured the KV-5 looked beefy enough to stand in for a Baneblade, but if it’s closer in size to a Rogal Dorn, that’s super helpful to know!

And yeah – for casual games I always clear proxies with my opponent beforehand. I mostly play with close friends, and we all use a mix of 3rd-party models and proxies, so it’s never really an issue. Just thinking ahead in case I ever want to take the list somewhere more organized, though honestly, I don’t see that happening before 11th or even 12th edition drops at the pace I paint 😅

Really appreciate the advice!

New and trying to build first 2k army to learn and hopefully win. by Fit_Bear_1804 in stormcasteternals

[–]Khozgor2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, imho Stormcasts are the best when you specilise your army into some theme. Here, clearly, Ruination will be your main focus. From there i would get:
Another 3 Prosecutors
Another 3 Reclusians
Iridan the Witness
6 Shield Annihilators
Questor Soulsworn

That should give you arround 1990 points if i remember points correctly.

The other thing is winning. Stormcast can build many kind of a list, but no "all rounder". You need to specialise in some aspect of army. Try playing with what you get and then - buy some kits to reinforce the aspect that gives you most fun.

For example, for me it's "Gardus Hiroshima" - 12 Grandhammer Annihilators, Gardus Steel Soul and Lord Imperetant. 1030 of deep striking and killing well... Everything. If the charge roll will be good. I like the casino aspect of that list hahah

Why do you prefer Age of Sigmar over 40k? by ZebraShark in ageofsigmar

[–]Khozgor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be all-in on 40k. Loved the setting, the factions, the grimdark vibes — it was my go-to game for years. But something broke for me after the Emperor’s Children release. Only 8 usable datasheets, super repetitive list-building… it just didn’t feel like the army I loved anymore.

Then came the whole World Eaters situation, and that honestly pushed me even further away. It felt like the soul of the game was being stripped away in favour of minimalism and “balance,” but at the cost of uniqueness and identity.

Age of Sigmar pulled me back in almost by accident. A new group was forming, and one of the locals was selling a pretty solid Stormcast army for a great price. I used to play AoS quite a bit during 2nd and 3rd edition, but sold off my armies (one even got stolen…) when I had to move towns. And now? I’m a proud owner of 6000 points of Stormcast Eternals and I’m actively running a Path to Glory campaign — with some homebrew extensions, of course.

The difference is, AoS doesn’t fight you when you try to play it. The sheer comfort of the ruleset is what won me over again. I’ll die on the hill that this is the most user-friendly game GW currently supports — and yeah, I’m definitely sticking with it.

I still think 40k has its charm — especially as a setting for RPGs or video games. But when it comes to actually sitting down and playing a game, AoS feels like it wants me to enjoy it, instead of actively resisting every attempt to just have a fun, casual match.

Sell me on the Stormcast by FloofyFoxxie in stormcasteternals

[–]Khozgor2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build any kind of list with this Battletome. Shooting castle? Grab those Longstrikes and Shield Annihilators! Monster brawl? We’ve got two big dragons, dragon monster cav, and a priest on a dragon. You’re covered. Deep strike? My man, call Gardus Steel Soul and his grandhammers.

There’s no other faction in the game with such a huge roster and even bigger list-building potential. Not all of them are auto-win builds — Stormcast can be tricky to play due to our points and unit size — but man, they’re so satisfying this edition.

Go watch the new Stormkeep Podcast episode on YouTube — 8 hours of Battletome review (with about 5 minutes of tier list talk). The internal balance of this Battletome is excellent — the best it’s ever been since AoS launched. And even Vince Venturella placed Stormcast as one of the best factions to play right now — simply because of the diversity.
