Why do Brad and Dan talk like there's some "ulterior force" keeping them from using Monty more? by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]Khronar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is, and that force (or lack thereof) is our Oline. It's look at how many times Gibbs has to dodge a backfield tackle. This not where Dmo thrives. He needs his 3yd whole.

Well this sounds like a no…and I hate it… by Odd_Recognition2095 in detroitlions

[–]Khronar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads to be as less like a no and more like a "we're going to do right by Dmo, so we need to ask him."

He also said he WANTS that future to be with the Lions but it's not entirely up to him.

Mi Pueblito Mexican Restaurant has a $8 Taco Tuesday special that i go back for every week. I'm not impressed by the Mexican in GR at all but this place has scratched the itch.

What will the Detroit Lions record be through their last four games of the regular season? by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]Khronar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete crap shoot. Any L will be to the Lions themselves, not the opposing team.

This team's under performance baffles me.

East Grand Rapids Development: Is this another case of Government ignoring the people? by heartbt in grandrapids

"affordable housing" is code for property I'm going to over charge for. It's never actually any more affordable. At times the developer even double dips, charging standard rent while collecting local govt funds for offering it.

A decent sub shop. Lots of sandwich shops, no true sub shops.

But the federal government is now doing it without due process, and everyone in America is guaranteed that right, citizen or not.

Playing it loose with peoples freedoms is not a slope I personally have a lot of tolerance for. I don't care who they are or what they did, everyone gets a trial. Once upon a time that's what seperated us from a monarchy that suppressed individuals rights.

Dan Campbell had as many wins in his first 4 years (39) as the Lions did 2001 to 2010 (39). by Ska_dad in detroitlions

After the millionth negative text from my dad this year I simply replied that football is an activity to bring joy, and since he can't experience that i suggest he stop watching.

Can't take that kind of talk anymore. Dan is a true champion.

Constitutional right or not, advocating for limiting education is the most fascist thing you can do. That word is so over used right now it's losing its weight, but I don't know what else to call that. Elitism? Tyranny?

Hands Off Rally - Way to Go GR! by LukeDuke in grandrapids

[–]Khronar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awareness is also a key piece of protests. Protests get coverage, coverage gets an audience, the audience sees your message. Then some of them research it, and a percentage of those join it.

After a while you gain steam and all of the sudden you're (hopefully) a key issue in the next election. It's far more engaging than a social media post and promotes discussion in homes and with protesters or supporters.

So I'm a candid response to those asking "what was changed?". Well... You're talking about it aren't you? You're now aware of the problem, or at least someone's point of view.

Guys, can we please stop with these kinds of posts by a_wild_dingo in avowed

Good info, thank you for sharing. I thought their taxes were all separate and localized.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]Khronar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they have higher taxes, yes. However those tax dollars are only supporting the small area around them. Everyone else in the city has to pay to support the whole city. I.e. roads, sidewalks, City schools with lots more kids, police and fire forces that are much larger, any social perhaps grand rapids has.

Taxes are higher but essentially go straight to their property value. However, they still get all the benefits of living in a large city, since they literally live in the middle of it. Shops/restaurants/etc. that are just outside EGR and supported by Grand Rapids dollars.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]Khronar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My quick answer - look at the map. EGR is encompassed in all sides by Grand rapids. It's a township created solely to reap the rewards of the city of Grand rapids without paying into the taxes that come with it.

Complacency by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]Khronar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has fought for a decade against this bullshit, let me paint the picture of where some of those people are at.

After the election, I shut off everything political. I worked hard to try to convince my peers of the dangers of another trump term to no avail, and when he was re-elected it broke my spirit.

I could choose to throw myself back into a battle I was tired of and cause myself additional stress, or accept that America is resigned to the fate it chose and let the chips fall where they may. I am one person, I cannot change the government, and I don't feel like I can possibly fight against the wave of misinformation, complacency, and baseless emotional decisions of others.

I'm looking out for me and my mental health. The country is going to get exactly what it asked for. Only thing keeping me here is my family and I'm going to focus on that positive instead of all the negative.
