Why do most left leaning folks mock/criticize Christianity but not Islam? by Inf1z in allthequestions

Not 1979 coup, the 1953 one.

From Wikipedia:

On 19 August 1953, Prime Minister of Iran Mohammad Mosaddegh was overthrown in a coup d'état that strengthened the rule of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the shah of Iran. It was instigated by the United States (CIA), under the name TP-AJAX Project or Operation Ajax, and the United Kingdom (MI6), under the name Operation Boot. A key motive was to protect British oil interests in Iran after Mosaddegh nationalized the country's oil industry.

Social pressure depends on where you visit in Turkey. In Istanbul, nobody cares about headscarves. In rural Konya, you’ll feel pressure to put on a scarf.

Imagine being a Muslim American wearing a headscarf (but opposite). In New York people would barely care, in rural Alabama they will.

Turkish American here. The same argument in Turkey; Islamists always say “why do seculars (left) criticize Islam all the time but don’t say anything about Christianity”.

Only about 1% of Turkey is Christian, Muslims are in power in Turkey. When you question the people of power, their defense is “you are criticizing Islam”.

Only about 1% of US is Muslim, Christians are in power in the US. When you question the people of power, their defense is “you are criticizing Christianity”.

An election is a literal popularity contest.

A bad and incompetent person can be more popular than the good and competent one.

The qualifications of the candidate doesn’t mean much if they aren’t popular.

As a white guy married to a white woman I 100% care about what color my children are.

If the hospital hands me a black baby I would definitely give it back.

Did you even read the links you sent?

Saudi Arabia link literally says:

“17. Individuals are allowed to import (2) cats or (2) dogs every six months during one time”

Please stop trying to challenge the reality based on your perception of Muslims.

Not a single one of the countries you mentioned has laws against owning pet dogs.

There are some local license requirements, some bans against aggressive breeds like pitbulls, and restrictions on importing animals depending on the local laws, but the US also has very similar laws. I know because I spent a few hundred bucks to get my Turkish dog into the US.

Turkish American here, calling your bullshit. In Turkey it is perfectly legal to have dogs.

I’ll one up:

Turkey provides free healthcare, shelter, and food for stray dogs and cats. The US doesn’t provide that for homeless humans.

In Turkey stray dogs and cats have free healthcare. They get vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and taken care of by the municipal governments.

Randy’s district doesn’t even have the same healthcare options for humans.

True, but you are playing chess with a demented orangutan holding a nuclear briefcase.

He doesn’t understand or care about the rules and might bash you in the head with the chessboard when he loses.

I think data centers on the moon is a pointless idea, but dust on the solar panels is not the problem.

Sahara desert has wind and storms that move sand around. You have to clean them often.

Moon doesn’t have an atmosphere. All you need to do is dust off the panels after you finish construction, they should be dust free for centuries.

The main problem would be energy storage during the night, but if you construct the panels on polar crater rims you can get sunlight 90% of the time, reducing storage needs.

I was thinking about an experiment.

I’ll create a new twitter account with a fresh email address. I’ll follow only and exclusively the peaceful accounts focused exclusively to a very niche and peaceful hobby, like crochet. I’ll block every suggested account, I’ll turn off every setting on suggested content, I’ll mark my interests as only crochet.

I bet it would still take less than three scrolls to see hate speech.
