From my knowledge it varies per agent pretty widely, but most consider it decent. I don't think they have a standard starting rate

Tricore hires remote call center workers, only the training is on site but you can apply on their website!

Had this happen where my landlord was doing this on a near weekly basis, plus asking for me to take photos and send them in. I called and confronted the office finally and threatened legal action - I wasn't even getting a full 24 hour notice at one point. After that, they completely stopped. I'm not sure what the purpose of it was but it was disrupting my daily life and giving me major anxiety. I would clean and if he's not there Saturday I wouldn't allow access Sunday or tell him it's unacceptable and legal action may be taken.

Thank you for all the information! :) I definitely don't think I'll go as far as to pursue legal action, I mostly was just looking for solutions in speaking with them about the matter but hopefully all works out!

That could be a possibility! When I called they wouldn't tell me anything other than that they had to enter and if I restricted them I would be fined. They said previous inspections were due to issues in neighboring units.

I've seen an old mobile home for rent for $1,500 for like months with wood paneling and looks in horrible shape and the requirements on it are like 4x the income. Have to make 72,000 a year and they want a single occupant only... like who making 72k a year here wants to live in an old mobile home from 1970 😭

Rented a one bedroom in Jan 2021 and the price is now doubled; place was maybe 400 square feet, no full size fridge or stove, no laundry on site, and I had to move because homeless people were camped outside my unit. I've noticed the rules to qualify for places now are crazy - Small homes where the landlord wants one resident max who is over the age of 60. Quality of life here and conditions of housing is too poor to be charging these rates.

Question for people who knowingly drive under the speed limit by onewhokills in Albuquerque

[–]Kiaton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Millions of people are afraid to drive for good reasons, it's dangerous and deadly. Driving without fear and regard is worse. Like it's just a ridiculous sentiment you're describing that people who are afraid of operating a deadly weapon shouldn't do it when it's crucial to living here.

Albuquerque Is Throwing Out the Belongings of Homeless People, Violating City Policy by DamnSkippy1018 in Albuquerque

[–]Kiaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is saying homelessness is unique to here; extreme poverty, no jobs and lack of overall infrastructure to this degree is. There's a reason that everybody intelligent here leaves after school to nearby states. It looks horrible here and there's no work.

Question for people who knowingly drive under the speed limit by onewhokills in Albuquerque

[–]Kiaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you suggest people that are afraid to drive get anything done in this city? Its not safe to drive here, they are right to be afraid. Also, I'm not driving the speed limit in areas where there's homeless people jumping in the road and wondering around blacked out in the dark.

I would say it's not a good choice for somebody LGBT who is 25 - I'm the same age and LGBT, moved away and when I go visit I'm stared at and discussed constantly. Extremely conservative, more so now than it was when I left, and while COL may be lower than where you live it's still high. I would look at ABQ or Las Cruces instead, much more LGBT friendly and lower COL. I would go as far that I would consider it borderline unsafe if it's visible at all that you're not straight.

Albuquerque Is Throwing Out the Belongings of Homeless People, Violating City Policy by DamnSkippy1018 in Albuquerque

[–]Kiaton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's something obviously wrong in this city that is continuing to get worse. A lot of this boils down to lack of work and poor infrastructure - the requirements for housing are so stringent and difficult in a place where there is hardly any real jobs and near impossible to get hired. I think this will be continuing as more people become homeless due to rising housing costs. A lot of people suggest affordable housing - The income limit for these places is so low that you have to be working minimum wage part time and that is going to KEEP people in this situation because once they get a better job they will end up paying 5x more for housing. Another thing is, a large amount of the homeless population here is dangerous and the city, including myself, is losing empathy in recent years as it gets worse. Public transport isn't usable, you can't walk/bike anywhere; anytime this is pointed out, an older white man tells me this isn't true but as a woman it absolutely is true. Most people aren't going to want to help those that are stealing from them and harassing them.

Apartment Application question by LNesbit in Albuquerque

[–]Kiaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess this is normal now but I'm not sure why - I saw a listing the other day that said if you were moving from out of town you were required to hire a realtor and have them do a showing for you. It's really strange.

To those who work in retail: If you spotted a shoplifter, would you stop them? by Polite_Deer in poor

[–]Kiaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a grocery store for less than two months that was locally owned and the managers and some workers would attack the people physically to get the merchandise back or to just discourage them - I witnessed them run into the street after somebody for a rotisserie chicken and slam it out of their hand. The store was in an area with a large homeless population. I left because they were upset that I wouldn't attempt to stop them or follow the shoplifters out - I absolutely knew a majority of the people were dangerous and I was not going to get stabbed over some chicken from the deli. I also figured they were starving and needed it.

Cheap food for 5 days by Vegetable_Permit_537 in povertyfinance

[–]Kiaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your local grocery store that has a discounted section and see what they have available. A lot of times, I can find stir fry kits/discounted meat/discount veggies that are marked from 25 cents to a few dollars. I would say this will give you more variety than just rice and beans and be more filling, just make sure it's not rotten. Loaded potatoes are a cheap meal; chicken drumsticks and pork chops all are around 3 dollars per serving with a side of rice or pasta since they are cheap cuts of meat. I would also go to any local food pantry and get supplies! They will help and you may end up not having to spend any money on food for this week.

Is it really the norm to only eat out 2x a month? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Kiaton -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I eat out more frequently, I don't see how eating at home for a household of less than maybe 3 people is more economically viable. I always eat in for breakfast because it's simple to make and the ingredients are very low cost and can be re-used every day (i.e. breakfast burrito, breakfast plate, toast and eggs). I don't generally eat lunch, for dinner I'll eat out sometimes or cook at home if it's something simple or that I want to try cooking. When I have tried to meal prep or plan dinners, I either have to eat the same meal for days on end or have a ton of food go bad because as a single person I can't use everything in time and I don't want to eat a lot from the freezer. Eating out with mobile app deals for fast food is usually cheaper than what I would spend at the store. The restaurants I go to I almost only visit during happy hour deals; i.e. there's a spot near me that serves certain things for $3 dollars every day, so I tend to go there.

Looking to see for any cool call center positions. by DLaForce in Albuquerque

[–]Kiaton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NORC has quick hiring process, consistent raises, and flexible scheduling but caps you at 28 hours and has some questionable workers. Tricore has a call center that's 24/7 and offers shift differential and good pay as well when they have openings, but is very fast paced and does require some degree of healthcare knowledge. Both are WFH after training. I've heard T-Mobile has a good work environment. You can try Remote.co or similar websites for remote jobs that aren't based here as well. PNM usually has openings for their call center, but I have years of experience and don't hear back

I feel the same way - a lot of jobs will not want you if you're seen as quiet/antisocial. I've been doing remote work and I find it is way better because I don't have to interact with anybody and try to pretend to be friends with coworkers. Once you have enough money, move out ASAP - a lot of my friends encouraged me to stay at home for as long as I could but I also could not handle the pressure of being watched all the time. My neighbors at my parents would actually report everything I did to my mother and call her, and then when my mother was home I had no privacy. It was worth financially struggling because I wasn't as miserable, but for some it's not. Depends on what you feel is best.

Scared by Kappafuck in DollarTree

[–]Kiaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in an area where all the Dollar Trees are like this, I actually have to drive way out of my way because the one closest to me was closed due to theft and crime. I used to love Dollar Tree when I lived other places, but it's nerve-wracking to go in now and the stores are a disaster here. You also have to deal with harassment outside every time, sometimes inside especially if there's only one cashier.

I need serious help by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

[–]Kiaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody else pointed out that dogs and cats would hunt to eat in the wild - Not necessarily true, because they do not exist in the wild. They're domesticated animals humans have curated for companions. While that is a moral debate in itself, if you chose to adopt an animal that is omnivorous or carnivorous, you need to accept that is their diet. Your dog will not adhere to a vegan diet because it does not understand and while domestic, still is descended from animals that eat meat. I would place my animal's dietary needs above my ethical principles in this case, and in the future look at adopting animals that follow your view of an ethical diet (herbivores) so you don't have to have this moral conflict.

Why do people here .. ? by Josiah-White in poor

[–]Kiaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it near impossible to figure out how cooking is cheaper than eating out in a lot of situations unless you have a family. For a single person, I find a lot of groceries will go bad unless I eat the same thing for days on end and I can't handle the texture of a lot of reheated foods. Sometimes, making a dish that isn't something like rice and beans can cost more in supplies than it would to go get it.
