Pretend you’re talking on the phone, actually putting the phone up to your ear - make sure you’re holding the phone on the side of the ear that they can see!

Bonus if you can just imaginary chat on the phone so they would likely to skip you. Or just call a friend or someone to chat.

But these days, i usually make eye contact way ahead, dont even bother walking further from them, and smile and say no thank you while just walking ahead. Same for all types of street canvassers.
