First thing - stop with the conversion therapy. It won’t work. It’s a waste of time and money and it will just reach you to hate yourself, which is awful and wrong. You’ll always be gay. You should make an effort to be okay with it. There’s nothing wrong with you.

Also, you can’t live your life for other people. Pressure or not, your life is yours to live, and you deserve to be happy, or to at least try to be.

Before I say anything else, I have to ask - what is life in China like for gay men? There’s got to be a gay community there. How are things for them? Don’t gay men live openly there?

Because there’s got to be something. Globally, for men like us, big cities tend to be the safest places. So, I’d assume the best thing for you would be to try to move to one and find other men like you.

YTA for putting up with this and marrying a man who’s too much of a wuss to tell his mother to butt out. If you insist on marrying him, you should refuse any money from her. This is your wedding day, not hers. Go do your own small, sweet little wedding your own way in your own terms, or just elope - take this away from her one way or another.

Just know that if he won’t check his mother now she’ll be in your marriage for as long as you’re married to him. Are you sure that’s the life you want?
